Thanks Chappy,

Putting
php_flag zlib.output_compression on
php_value zlib
.output_compression_level 5
into my .htaccess file and disabling compression in XOOPS did the trick. My pages fly now :)

I have enabled gzip compression but I have a problem..

When I go to my sitehttp://www.domain.com and check for gzip enabled it says that it isn't, but when I go tohttp://www.domain.com/index.php it says gzip is enabled.

WHY???????

Obviously when i get a visitor who has typed in domain.com they are going to visit the un gzipped page resulting in a longer page load and possible loss of a user due to not wanting to wait for it to load. Is there a reason for this??

Also would there be a way for an initial visitor to goto domain.com/index.php rather than it state there at domain.com/

I've not used gzip before on my sites before coming over to xoops, but as Im increasing content etc I need my pages to load faster, when I was on static pages I could optimise each page exactly as I needed.

Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks

Is there a way I can set the time limit on the display of the forums?

I have a new site and the forums topics are dissapearing before a reply gets posted. I would like to alter the time for guests that the topics are displayed for.

Also I would like 2 blocks that showd the last 10 posts and the 10 most popular topics, even after the time limit for displaye dposts run out.

Any help on how to do this would be most welcome.

thanks in advance :)

When viewing posts in the latest versions of newbb with an 800 x 600 resolution my posts get pushed to the bottom of the page, leaving a big blank white space in the center of the page where the posts are gernraly shown.
This is due to the following menu

Topic Options | Rate Thread | Search Forum | View Mode

Pushing my page width beyond it boundries.

Is there anyway I can reduce the width of these menu header boxes???

I have two domains hosted on a virtual server.
They each have their own directories with their own themes but share the same database.

Is there anyway I can hardcode the path for avatars and uploads etc. Idealy Id like to hardcode my AMS image directory and WFSections Image directory too.

Reason for this is that I admin both sites through one admin, but if I create an article it will show on both sites both only have images on one.
Same with users, If they join on one site then their avatar won't show on the other site.

I would be gratefull for any help on this.

Thanks in advance

I'm trying out the zmagazine module, but I'm having problems getting the images to display, I've cmod'd the image directories as well as the cache etc but no luck. I get a red cross on the modify section page when I select an image, and then when I go to view the page is just says ERROR: Please check path/file for image. Has anyone been able to fix this?

I have a set of sections with subsections. When I click on a section I want the subsections to be displayed like the main sections are in the main index page. The only way I can access them at the moment is via the drop down menu which isn't the best way to display them, Also the main section for the ones that have sub sections with articles show 0 articles. But there are articles in the sub sections. Is there a way to get the sub sections to display, and to get the total number of articles within a sections sub sections to be displayed in the main section?
