Hi, I strongly agree with you about XOOPS being a lot better and this is why I brought the topic to this forum. To use the template extension you must have DW. Using it is very simple, you insert some code at the head of the document, and after that you design how the template must look (wysiwyg) and insert the mambo elements you need (banners, body etc.) and you have a template.
Giving XOOPS a "personal look" is a mayor concern of lots of users (see the forum) and this is a very easy way to achieve that goal.
I hope things like this come developed. "Non programmers" (like me) would certainly find that particular task a lot easier.
Have a nice day

I tested mambo for a few days. XOOPS is a lot more powerfull, but mambo has a great feature that -in my humble opinion- would be very usefull in xoops: a dreamweaver extension that allows you to create templates in a wysiwyg (design)mode. This is, you can create the layout you want and insert the elements of mambo that you need.
This make the process of creating a site the way you want, very easy. Of course it doesn't have to be a DW extension, but something with this functionallity.
If any developer could take a look at it, I think it would result in a very usefull tool.
Have a nice day!

Mambo can be gotten: here
and the dreamweaver extension: here

Regarding this topic, it would also be nice to have a directory of "POEWERED BY XOOPS" sites. I've seen the forum of course, but an structured directory would be very nice and usefull!

Reading trough google I found this:
Quote:
Fiction: Sites are not included in Google's index if they use ASP (or some other non-html file-type.)
Fact: At Google, we are able to index most types of pages and files with very few exceptions. File types we are able to index include: pdf, asp, jsp, hdml, shtml, xml, cfm, doc, xls, ppt, rtf, wks, lwp, wri.

As you can see php is not included. Then the question is, how can a XOOPS site get any good ranking if it cannot be indexed by google?

the full facts can be seen athttp://www.google.com/webmasters/facts.html

A lot of sites of people in this community are great. I have visited several and I would like to register at a lot. SO I was wondering if some module could be created to register in one place, and then have access to all the affiliate sites. This might be a way:
1.-You register at xoops, input all data, avatar signature etc.
2. In the site 2, in stead of doing all of it again, you simply give your email address, then the affiliate site would "ask" XOOPS if they have this id. If true, then XOOPS send the info to the site2 and ready. the registration would be done.
Of course, the request should be validated troug the email of the signer (just the way it is actually done when registering).
A lot of sites woud recive mor visits I guess.

Have a great day
