Put this in a custom block, template, or theme.html:

<a href="javascript:;" style="behavior:url(#default#homepage)" onClick="setHomePage('http://www.yourxoops.com')">Make Homepage</a><br />

Thank you, Morely, I seriously appreciate the offer. If you would like a free subscription to MyXoops Club, its yours.

I am livid at this point... today someone finally did join MyXoops Club (the first since I installed MC Subscriptions) and he wrote me this morning to complain that although his payment was processed, his membership was not upgraded to Club status. Upon checking PayPal, I discovered that not only wasnt he upgraded via XOOPS group status, he was also charged twice for the service.
Then I went to Admin > Subscriptions > Manage Subscriptions & realized that not only didnt it upgrade him and charge him twice, but it didnt even add him to the list of subscribed users! There were several people on that list, all of them with "Basic Membership" - it makes no frickin sense at all.

This is obviously completely unacceptable.

MC Subscriptions has been an odd project to begin with, with someone asking for donations prior to even starting progress on the module, then supposedly hiring a third party developer to realize the goals set forth by the XOOPS community. After delay after delay, with the entire community on their heels in anticipation, we are finally presented with this? A half functioning module that doesn't achieve any of the things requested by the propositioned community, and no support or explanation?

It would be one thing if this were another content module or something, but this is a module that is/was desperately needed by the XOOPS community, has already been bought and paid for by the XOOPS community in the form of supporting contributions by god knows how many eager XOOPsers, and most importantly - this is a module that a site would really depend on to function. How professional does it look when you base your entire model on a subscription-based service, and your site cannot even complete the subscription process?
Highly unprofessional, and I am kicking myself a thousand times over for venturing to trust this supposedly stable release to function without testing it thoroughly first. Obviously that is what I should have done, but the timing of the release seemed to be perfect - it came out the same day I was leaving for a vacation & seemed the ideal solution to automate the task of group management while I was away, & I barely had time to install the module & erase all my previous (working) custom subscription templates before I was out the door.

*sigh*

Anyway, to respond to my own question for the sake of others using this module, the answer is: No, it doesn't work.

Anyone seen cuckston lately? lol

I have seen lots of XOOPS sites around, they just don't go around with a big e-p3nis stick about it.

I see XOOPS as a professional's tool, something you love and use everyday for regular customers, not something flashy to boast around to raise the market share of it.

lmao, & nicely put.

Maybe there arent many "high profile" sites which employ XOOPS, but I wouldnt consider spreadfirefox exactly all that high profile, either. Most major companies have their own teams of developers designing custom content solutions, which would be in my opinion the primary reason you don't see Yahoo running on Postnuke or PBS running on XOOPS.

I personally would choose high quality over some notion of high profile, which of course is completely relative anyway. I know I've read here about some official government and political campaign sites using XOOPS, as well as national or global radio stations or some such... I don't have the threads handy but search the YAXS & you might be surprized at the range of sites that use XOOPS well.

Thanks for the reply Mith, I knew you would be the one to come to my rescue on this one. Contacting my host is somewhat problematic at this juncture, but I am considering relocation as soon as I can make a good upwads move.

I just don't understand why only 1 of 10 XOOPS sites on the same server would suffer permanently while the others recovered - would you presume this is because of the older XOOPS version? Besides the volume of traffic and data on that site, the version seems the only variable. Toolunity has always been somewhat unstable for one reason or another, suffering several complete failures over the years - usually due to mysterious server side errors.
I did manage to get into the IPB Admin CP for the site, but attempting to "repair tables" just returned a long list of strange errors. Notice that www.toolunity.com/modules/ipboard/admin.php still exists, while the rest of the site renders white error pages. Odd.

Would it be possible to export the database & import it to a fresh install & retain the data, or would there be [XOOPS] version issues?

Thanks for your help :)

Hmm?

Even admin.php returns the fatal error. Any ideas?

Recently my server went down & when it came back, all of my sites returned this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/mine/public_html/kernel/config.php on line 222
Unknown Condition []: in file line

as documented in the FAQ here.

I wrote my host & waited it out, & the next day most of my sites had been returned to functional.
I don't believe my host got my email though... so I doubt he reconciled the Zend issue...

Anyway, the site I have the most traffic on didnt come back. It still gives me the fatal error, as you can see @ www.toolunity.com

My host seems unreachable, so I must resolve this myself, it seems. Hopefully someone can help.

If all my sites returned the fatal error & then 9/10 came back w/o issue, whats the anomaly?
The one that is still down was not as current as the rest, I think - I don't even remember what version its runing. Maybe 2.0.4 ...the rest of my sites are 2.0.9.
All my sites are using the IPB module/hack.

I'm thinking... maybe... do a blind upgrade, overwriting the older files with 2.0.9 or better & hope for the best?
Or would this work at all?

Any ideas or insights are appreciated :)

5th post on this, please, someone...

If nobody can answer the question, can someone help me to answer it?

Anybody want a 6 month subscription to MyXoops Club for $1 ?
It's a $50 value, you get to check out some cool Flash integrated themes, and help me (and anyone else who may be wondering) figure out whether MC Subscriptions works or not. All I need is 5 minutes of your time & $1.
If the dollar is a problem I will send it to you before you join.

I would really, really appreciate it.

Thanks...

Hope this helps ;)
