There have recently been an influx of questions regarding this particular error message:

 Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in pathsomethingkernelconfig.php on line 223 
Unknown Condition []: in file line.

This error is NOT caused by XOOPS, but by an upgrade of PHP to version 4.3.10 without upgrading the Zend Optimizer

If you see this error, please contact your host and enquire if they have in fact upgraded their PHP version without also upgrading the Zend Optimizer.
