I guess what a person considers a "high profile" site depends on what industry or topic you are interested in. Personally, I haven't heard of any of the sites that have been mentioned as "high profile".

I have, though, spent a couple years testing out and trying various CMS's for the past 2 years ... trying to find one that could handle, relatively securely, all that I needed it to do for my own personal website that is also a sort of information site for people who are disabled due to, or afflicted by, the same illness that I have.

XOOPS is the only CMS that I found and tested that "passed muster". And yes, I tried Drupal.

I finally changed my personal site over to XOOPS in February ... and since then have had almost half a million unique visitors. I know that is not a huge number by most peoples standards ... but its significant to those seeking information about that which disables me.

I don't want to get into a discussion about what CMS is better. All I am saying that for me and my needs ... XOOPS was the ONLY logical choice.

XOOPS 2.2 Question ... when stable version is released ....????

I have been patiently waiting with great anticipation for the release of XOOPS 2.2, but now I am getting a little concerned.

My concern is due to the Articles 1.0 rc1 module release and the announcement of the Smart modules pending release and something each of them mention.

Is there a chance that when XOOPS 2.2 is released in its stable version that all the modules I am currently using that are not part of XOOPS download (ie made by others) ... that they may not be compatible with 2.2 ???

Will these new "2.2 compatible" modules be backward compatible with 2.0.??? versions.

Is this website now going to have, or need to have, 2 different Module Repository's? One for 2.2 version and one for 2.0.??? versions?

I might be getting myself too anxious too soon. But seeing how everyone is so anxious for a stable version of 2.2 ... I am thinking any day it "could be" released. I am just concerned that those of us using "non-included" modules should be made aware NOW if there is going to be potential problems if we upgrade without having upgraded modules ready to go.

Thanks
Peter

I haven't actually given up yet ... totally ... on getting this thing to work. Just for now ... until my headache goes and then will try again.

I'm one of those guys that will keep trying everything wrong until he stumbles onto the right way to do it ... and then forget what I did that made it work

Do you think it would be difficult to modify a module made for PHP-Nuke to work on XOOPS? I haven't actually checked the PHP-Nuke site ... but the phpMyChat website (http://www.phpheaven.com) says they have a module.

Oy Vey ... what a headache I've got.

Whatever I think I am doing right ... it must be wrong because I can't get the danged thing to work. Like I said before ... I am an idiot about most of this stuff.

Guess I want my XOOPS to be like my car. I get in, turn it on, put it in gear and it goes. When it doesn't turn on or doesn't work right ... I call the mechanic and tell him its broke and to come fix it.

Oh well ... hope your buddy comes up with that Beta module. I'd certainly be willing to "test drive" it

Take care ... and thanks

Personally, I leave the "templates" setting set at Yes ... and every module to "No Cache" until I am absolutely positive I will be making no more changes.

I know its against the advice of some experienced Xoopsters ... but it sure makes making changes a whole lot easier when I don't have to keep going back and turning this thing on and off or resetting a bunch of something else.

I will download the module and try it out. I am adventurous ... most times

As for the tables ...

I know a bit about PHP ... but I admit I know nothing about MySQL or the Admin interface for it. I will give it a try though ... see what happens

Thanks

Be patient with an idiot for a moment please

So the link you provided goes to a download for a phpmychat that only works in XOOPS 1 ... and since I am using XOOPS 2.0.13 ... it won't work for me. Right?

I don't know much about PHP ... but ... if I can get a copy of the module that works under XOOPS 2.2 (should it work for my current version??) ... I don't mind going into each file and change the "hard code German" to "hard code English". I'd offer to change it so its adaptable to any language ... but I have no clue on how to do that.

Don't anyone get me wrong ... I think XOOPS is a fantastic CMS and I really appreciate all the hard work the developers have put into it over the years.

Unfortunately, I am in the same boat as karedokx ... I don't have the knowledge to be a programmer either.

But, in my mind ... if there is no function to "View Log" ... then the option to do that should not be displayed. Period. If I knew I couldn't view a log via the Admin menu beforehand ... I would not have used the module but sought out something else.

Just my uneducated opinion

I am totally unfamiliar with the theme ... and sort of a newbie to this stuff ... but my first thought is ... the problem is in the CSS files

Specifically ... where the mainmenu table specs are assigned. (something like "td#mainmenu" or similar)

When I have a problem with a theme, I always make a copy of it ... then just start messing around until I finally find what I need to change that works. Then I make the change in the copy of the theme. That way, if I really screw up I always have a copy of the latest working copy of the theme that I can immediately upload again.
