You can safely turn on cache.
The specific module will not update it's content until the period is over.
If you have to get some content updated right away, you can always clear the content of your cache-folder.

You shouldnt use cache, or at least not for a long time-period on content that is often updated like poll, shoutbox etc. as it may confuse your visitors when their contribution wont show up, and they then may try to post it again and again.

Play around with cache, it wont bite you can always stop modules or blocks from cacheing if you dont like it.

Here is an simple guide for modulecacheing (by WolfFactory) :
- Real time interactivity (Chat modules) -> No Cache
- High user interactivity (Forums) -> No Cache / 30 seconds
- Medium user interactity (Downloads, Links, Members, News) -> 1 minute / 5 minutes / 30 minutes / 1 hour (not more, a submission, shouldn't be ignored more than one hour)
- Low user interactivity (Contact us, Partners, Headlines) -> 1 hour / 1 day
- No user interactivity (Sections, FAQ, Disclaimer) -> 3 days / 1 week

You can find more info here

I have also noticed that I can't change where I want rank to show up on the profile cause it doesn't exist in Extended Profiles >> Fields.

Is that normal or is it just something wrong with my xoops? :P

For some reason some fields wont show up on profiles, like the "Member Since" for instance.
- Persmission is set
- I don't get any PHPDebug errors/warnings, only notices
- I have tried with deleting profilefields.tmp in the cache-folder.
- Updated the Extended Profiles module
- Cleared cache and template_c

I don't know if this is normal or has anything to do with this, but when I go to Extended Profiles >> Fields, and click the 'GO!' button at the bottom I get a white page, and there is no warnings/errors output from any type of debug.

PHP version: 4.4.0-4
MySQL version: 4.1.15
Xoops version: 2.2.3
Extended Profiles version: 0.1

PHPDebug errors/warnings: None

MySQL/blocks debug:
SELECT CIDpagetitlepageheadlinepagecreated FROM xxx_wfschannel WHERE ORDER BY created
DESC LIMIT 0
5
Error number: 1064
Error message: You have an error in your SQL syntaxcheck the manual that corresponds to your MySQL
server version
for the right syntax to use near 'ORDER BY created DESC LIMIT 0, 5' at line 1
0.000735)

Thanks in advance :)

I've noticed the huge spaces in Extended Profiles, what I want is to remove these lines, see the pic and you will now what I mean.

Resized Image

I didn't find anything about it in the templates.
How can I remove these lines between field titles and field description for fields in Extended Profiles?

Xoops Version: 2.2.3

Can anyone please help me with this?
It can be an early x-mas gift from you to me

Please turn on PHPDebug and post any errors/warnings you get for the blank page.

PHPDebug can be enabled from System Preferences:
System >> Preferences, choose General Settings under System Preferences

make a new file and add:

<?php
$show = realpath('index.php');
echo $show;
?>

to it, save it as WhatEverYouWant.php
Upload it to your server in xoops-rootfolder and call it from the browser, copy the output and add it to your mainfile.php (without index.php)

It's allways a good idea to finish your website as much as possible before you go for a paid webhost. You can either develope it locally or choose a free webservice, but it's sometimes very difficult to find one that is not a hoax.

Please post free webhosts here that fit the xoops-requirements (of course).

Ok, but it doesn't only happen in custom blocks, at least on my installation. Should I tell my users to post only in HTML if they want to include an email? Anyway, is this by design, or is there a way to fix it?

mailaddress@test.com <- gets reported as
[!SCRIPT FILTERED!] at your site if HTML is enabled..

[ email]mailaddress@test.com[ /email] <-works fine :)

< a href="mailto:mailaddress@test.com">My mailaddress< /a> works fine too.

If HTML is not enabled then mailaddresses written in this type:
" mailaddress@test.com " shows up, but as you said..with a dot at the end.

I have no clue at all, but maybe CBB and Content use Autoformat as default (and it can't be changed in the Admin CP). You may want to contact the developers and ask, you can find the CBB-crew here

You don't have to get your visitors to post in HTML, just make sure that those who do it in the "wrong" way click on the email-button to add an email-adress so the forum-codes
[ email] and [ /email]) is used.

Nice site BTW!

Edit AMS is affected too
