yes.. Multimenu has some strange behaviours on various xooops versions..

I think you might want to search threads on this site to find more nitty gritty about it..

Best wishes,

Also, I think there's a moodle module somewhere..

I think that beyond the screaming and shouting in this thread, there are some positive points which could be taken to make XOOPS a better system, and the XOOPS community to operate more cooperatively.

During the time I have been visiting here, over a year now, I have been helped more than been helping - and I am grateful for that.
I have not noticed a way by which I could be more of an assistance to people and the project as a whole, and this, in part, is my own failure. However, I suspect that others might have similar kind of reflex, namely, "Hummm.. I can not do php to save my life - there's not much that I can do..."

I like xoops, and generally, I like the people who frequent this site. It seems for me that the project will benefit from a doze of transparency in the way of development and the ability of users to contribute.

This, I feel, is something I could contribute to happily.. If such transparency could assist in reducing the shouts and amount of posts in thread like this one - it might be worth while...
Question is, where is the door to offer skills and ideas to..?

Best wishes,

Aharon

Picking on a few points made by defwind77..

* I think joomla's popularity has also to do with it having the mambo userbase to build upon.
I have tested it recently, following this thread, and didn't find help/assistance very forth coming..

* Very good point regarding way of working.. Transparency in the way the system is being developed will be very helpful for working with xoops. I think that maybe:
a - A large link for module and core development *suggestions* could be useful.
b - If such suggestions could go into a polling pool so users can, together and transparently, see which new developments are coming and when - will be useful. It could mean that people have more stake in the system..
Also, tools which help in collaborations, could be useful. For example, a collaboration forum..(?)
Collaborations will be very useful in fast and varied development..

* I think that replies such as "go and hack a module" or "make a module" - should be discouraged. If a person asks certain questions, it might mean they do not have the technical know how. Maybe building a body of tutorials for various hacking, similar to the SEO Q&A, but less technical, could go some way for addressing that..(?)

Well..

Best wishes!

Joomla/mambo indeed seems attractive because, in my opinion, 3 elements mainly:
* The system offers easy integration between written and visual media.
* It has a good SEO support that's easy to operate. (Probably one of the simpler things on the system..)
* It has a good syndication support.

However, to operate the system is a bit of a pain because the metaphors are confusing and the admin section continues on a similar vain.
The modules/components/bots etc., developed for joomla/mambo are a bit patchie to say the least..

Xoops is by far, not perfect. Though I think, the framework has a lot of potential to keep being the best.. Its about simplicity, flexibility and integration..

Another humble opinion..

Best wishes,

Aharon

Hi,

I have got content module working well and using the FCK editor on XOOPS 2.0.13.2.

When I try to browse the server to add an image, I get:
* It shows me an empty folder called "images".
* I can not upload an image to it because, it tells me I have no permissions.

I changed permissions on all the "images" folders on content module to 777 - but still no joy..

Could anyone tell me where should I look for to change the permissions..?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Regards,

Aharon

Hi,

Been trying to over come this for the last day, and haven't moved an inch..

When I try to see the links on weblinks module, I get the following:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_post()
(previously declared in /home/web_server/public_html/modules/weblinks/include/functions.php:56) in /home/web_server/public_html/modules/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 468

Seems like both modules use the same function from 2 different places..

Any clues as to how the modules can stop doing that..?

Thanks!

Aharon

I see, JMorris.. Thanks!

Am using firefox 1.0.7 on windows.. Indeed it displays something else:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

-
<html>
<body/>
</html>

---------------

What is this about the style information? Is this why no content is included..?

Best wishes,

Aharon
