Vote for features

An interesting idea which I thought might be worth mentioning here.

On the 'Gallery' website they have an function where by people can vote on feature requests. People receive 1 vote upon registering and can acquire more votes by participating on the forums. This would mean that the most wanted features would be looked at first.

What do you think?

The vote page for gallery can be located here:
http://gallery.menalto.com/sfvote

This is how they work it:
Forum Posts / Votes
0 / 1
1-9 / 10
10-19 / 20
20-99 / 30
100-999 / 40
1000+ / 50

Plus 1 vote for every 4 months of membership on this site.

You can vote from -2 to +5 votes on any feature request.

When a feature request is completed users votes are then freed up to vote on other feature requests.

The list of requests comes directly from sf.net

Re: Favicon??? Going bonkers.

favicons can be a bugger if you've already viewed the page.

How did you clear the cache? Through the browser or by physically deleting the files? Try doing it manually, it should work then.

Ok - may be wrong with this, but it looks like it may be the classic "module in the wrong directory" problem.

Let's say the module name is "eric"

When you downloaded and unzipped/un-rared "eric", you may have accidently left it in its own directory.

So the file isnt in /modules/eric - but is instead in /modules/eric/eric

Does this make sense?

Only thing is the modules installed, which shoudn't be possible if it's in the wrong dir, no

Re: Module does not exist?

Ah, I would say that is the problem, you may need to wait till your domain name is setup before the site will work properly.

I think you have mainfile.php setup as:

http://207.36.196.94/clippersswim.org

but I think XOOPS will have a problem with this address.

Can you give a link to the site?

Re: which CMS to employ ?

I think all the galleries available for XOOPS have an admin approval function. If you install the Extensible Waiting Block Module it will list what is waiting for most modules, so you can see as soon as you login if there is content waiting to be approved.

Re: Something I noticed recently ?

Nope, it's NewBB2, I've seen it even on very small sites.

In IE you'll see all the bits and bobs loading, but in FF you won't, but they both load all those objects when opening a forum topic.

XOOPS of cause!

I think you can do pretty much everything with XOOPS or joomla, it boils down to what you feel most comfortable administrating.

Re: user end install of xoops on our domains

It's strange that your host doesn't have XOOPS listed in fantastico, my host has these cms's available:

Drupal
Geeklog
Joomla
Mambo Open Source
PHP-Nuke
phpWCMS
phpWebSite
Post-Nuke
Siteframe
Typo3
Xoops

As Herko and David said, installing yourself is pretty simple, but if you do have issues, your sure to find an answer here.

Re: Something I noticed recently ?

I've noticed this with all NewBB2 installs, I think from the first release of CBB this problem disappeared.
