Wheeler

I Don't see anything that is helping with the alphabetic sorting for the letters() function.
I don;t use it @ the MyDownloads mudule, I use it @ the Xdir + the Myedito + Xdir hacked to a phonebook, If you want me to... I can send you the whole module to look @ ... It seems to come from the direction of -
$rankings[$e]['title']

I hoped to implement it @ the MyEdito - so it more or less "close" my requirements from a "homepages" module, so If you want to take a look at a hacked Xdirectory with the "letters()" you might find the problem ...
http://www.meant4u.com/xdirectory.zip

Mith, I would have ask you too, but I'm sure you're loaded with code to go over

Anyway, it might be a really small thing we missed here, and then it'll be easy to add to a lot of mudules, so it's worth the try.

Hi Wheeler
10x, but it's not working better, as you see above the WFsection too knows about the problem...

A bit hard to belive that nobody found a solution for that, or implement another alphabetic sort panel...

Yep, much more then just "it"
I have so many features suggestions, a great ones, but since Solo is doing it so easily and so fast .. like "ahh, no problem" ... ... it'll wait for letting him breath a bit ....

Hi Solo
Great additions
Don't you want to release it "officialy" ?
I think it's good already for a first release
no problem to connect the XOOPS search to it ... and try to see if the "alphabetic sorting will work better here (I will do it gladely if you want me to).

Two more thing would be great:

1. Automatic creation of user directories inside the Images upload directory (so that users won't get other's images, just their own) ... maybe even in future releases an admin limit for user's images directory.

2. An option to choose between the "user picture" from it's profile to a custom one.

Hope all those ideas and features requests don't bother you too much, my misrable head keeps always run forward ... like a curse sometimes ... won't stop even @ nights ...

@ tzvook : Do you mean having as main index page (main link in the menu) an index with all the authors, and then a sublink with all the myEditos?

I meant that the frontal module page should include the Homepages list (now it's called "Authers" and can be found @ the menu) - means that that is the real Homepages list... then when you enter the Authers pages you find his "editos" ... I think this logic is clearer when you deal with "homepages"

How are we going to handle the "moderation mod"?
So far this function just creat an offline myEdito for which only the admin has right to active or not the page. So, if the page won't display anywhere (except for the author who still have the possiblity to edit it), that means in the other hand that the page is still available with a direct link (respectin groups access rights, of course).

What sould we do :
1) Discard the moderation option? Moderation is useless for this kind of module. Admin still have the possibility to edit any custom page.

2) Only the very first author's myEdito is moderated. If validated the user has the possibility to update or create new page without any restriction?

3) Each and every created or edited myEdito must be validated by admin. Any edited page is set back offline and thus unavailable. Which, in my opinion, is not in the spirit of this module...

This is certainly a point to think of...
but I think that each author is asking for "a homepage" ... and admin see who he is and what was his first edito all about, then with the granted permiitions, the author can send/connect more editos to his "homepage"
(this one is connected to the above paragraph talking about structure by "homepage") ...
One thing is really clear I think - as you said - the 3rd option is against the "spirit" of this module.

Solo

*Great* is the word !!! really, I just now had the time to test the module !!!

But ..... well, there's always a but
I'm a bit confused about it's arangement (functionality is great as I said b4) ... well - probably the structure was inherited from the edito module, as a content module, but (to my opinion at least) here it needs to be a bit different.

It seems to me that the front module page should include a list of "homepages" .... or what you call "Editors" and not pages "editos"
==> instead of some editos leading to one auther, it should be authors (homepage) leading to all (3 or whatever) their "editos"...

Another great thing would be to give a posibility for small clans homepages - means that a few users will make one homepage (like a clan mini site) or that the MyEdito owner wiil have the option to give editing permitions to more users - great for "small workgroups", "families homepages", "Act Groups" and so on...
This one will probably needs a choice in the admin to choose between user picture or custom one.

The alpabetic thingy sound interesting. But as far as I can see, this is not completly ready yet.

Yep, hope some sharp eye dev will see the problem

Regarding the profile user link, don't forget XOOPS automatically add links to Edito's authors.

I didn't thought about it, thatr's really somethin , though for me at least, it's quite a basic need to make the link to myedito very big @ the user profile, even as a hack ... especially if there's no alpabetic way of search.

That way or another I thank you Solo for this great addition for Xoops, a module that was so long awaited, and will probably go far in next releasses too

Hello Wheeler ... All

Like wheeler said - this Alphabetic hack is needed for almost each Module (as a hack for your choice for bigger sites) and especialy for a few modules like: myEdito/homepages , Xdirectory , mydownloads (a fixed one) and Mylinks.
but, yes, is most required for the promising myEdito module
I also hacked the Xdirectory for a phonebook (with Alphabetic panel (which works bad) and a searh, so if it'll be fixed I'll probably put it in xoops.org (if I'll have the Xdir auther permition).

The problem is not just that it shows b+c+d in the "a" page - but that it don't show the "b" in the "b" page

10x solo 4 the quick reply

I meant Alphabetic navigation (similar to WSdownloads ... which don't work so good) - not Alphabetic sorting
If you have about ... lets say ... 500 users, 200 of them with homepages, you need a way to look for their homepages.

so - if you go to each user details page, you'll expect to see a link to his homepage (might be a hack for one to put/don't put)
But, the least is to enter the "homepages module" and to find a homepage by user's name.

Sorting is good if it's a few homepages, for bigger sites, a carefull planning is require ... looking through the "visitor eyes"

I would have helped with the Alpabetic thing, but I'm stuck with it too in the Xdirectory module ( https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32229&forum=4&post_id=140630 )
