If you are using the 'Spotlight' block built into the module admin, you can set teasers by clicking 'EDIT' for the article in question WITHIN the 'Spotlight' section of AMS administration.
:
Automatic Teaser -> NO
Maximum Length of Auto-Teaser ->number of characters to be displayed.

OTHERWISE, you can use:
Quote:
[extend]

in the article itself to set the breakpoint for teasers.

I was trying that but it didn't work. I did discover the problem though: you have to make it at least a minor revision or it just treats any changes like you hit "Cancel".

Also...when I make a change, it says the database was updated, but then nothing changes.

Any clues? Please? I am getting desperate here.

AMS 2.41 -- Teasers on front page/topic page?

Is there any way in AMS 2.41 to display just the first X number of words on the index page and the topic pages? There must be, because there's a "read more" link, but I can't for the life of me get it to display just the truncated form. Any help would bea appreciated.

Gracias!

Re: Soapbox block disappears

Actually, let me modify that problem...

Turns out I could see it in Mo and not IE because I was logged in with the Mozilla browser. But there's still a problem: the block is set to be visible to all users (including anonymous group), but it just refuses to show up unless you're logged in. Anon users have access to the module and the block, but still nothing.

Does that make this any easier to figure out?

Soapbox block disappears

Working on a site for a client, and she wants to have the SOAPBOX module to use for posting commentary. Also wants the latest few to be listed on the front page. No problem; Soapbox does that. Except...

The block will only show up in Mozilla-derived browsers and not in IE. I tried switching columns with the same result. I have never seen this before. Anyone got a clue on this?

In that case the only blue box I see is a banner in the center. On the right I see an image displaying the terror thread in the US.

Check the privacy and security settings of IE.

Do you maybe use an ad-blocker?

No, it's a different site. I actually fixed the strange blue blocks...now I'm just having the problem with the mysterious disappearing block, which is probably (in retrospect) a question more appropriate in the modules area.

Weirdness in IE

Got a site that works great in Firefox, but in IE it gives me a couple of weird things:

1. I get a strange pair of blue boxes at the top of the page.

2. One block (the Soapbox "what's new" block) refuses to display.

The first problem is probably something I screwed up in the HTML, but the latter problem has me perplexed. Anyone ever see this before?

Question about XOOPS versions

I am preparing to put up a site for a client using XOOPS, and I am trying to decide which version to use. XOOPS 2.0.13 seems to be listed as the latest stable version, and 2.2.3 is an RC (because it was released as a full version and then big bugs were found). So I have a couple of questions:

1. Is 2.2.2 stable? Or is there any reason I shouldn't use it for a production site?

2. Is there any estimate on how soon 2.2.3 will be available as a full release?

Thanks!

Re: Cannot edit templates

Forgot to mention this, also:

The content pages associated with some tempalte files would not display until I deleted the templates. Once I delete them, they display fine, but I lose all my customization and cannot upload or edit them again.

Cannot edit templates

I've been running XOOPS for a couple of years now on a site without very few problems (most of the problems that I've had were caused by people trying to hack in or bad module interactions), but now I've got a problem I can't seem to fix: I am unable to edit, generate, or upload template files. When I try to generate, I get the green box that says "Press the button below to generate file(s)" and then I get "Installing module template files for template set GreyTemplates...", at which point the system hangs. If I try to upload a template, I get a blank screen. Same thing happens when I try to edit one.

Anyone have an idea about what might be causing this?
