first of all, it wants to download the md5.php file ???

i've searched the FAQs. no help.

my install went flawlessly, installed all TABLES correctly, then gave me a blank page.

my xoopsinfo.php tells me this:

Failed opening required '../mainfile.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /homepages/7/d153329893/htdocs/xoops/xoopsinfo.php on line 2

i ran the debug query, UPDATE xoops_config SET conf_value=1 WHERE conf_name = 'debug_mode', apparantly successfully.
