Why is the discussion on the vision of XOOPS taking place on XoopsInfo.com rather than Xoops.org?

Kurt

There will be three different statements for the different areas of Xoops:

Xoops the product
Xoops the project
Xoops the Community

Each of these areas are separate, however none of those can exist without the support of the others. We are working cooperatively (X o & X i) so all the statements will work together, just like the different areas. Along those same lines it is not right for XOOPS the project to tell what the community what their vision is.

I have asked Davidl2 to start the forums on X i. If he hasn't done it yet, I am sure he will shortly.

Good point. Shall we start to work on that.

First let's come up with a vision statement for XOOPS the product and a vision statement for the project.

Then we will come up with road map or mission statement of how we are going to get there.

Discussion about a vision and mission for the community will take place on Xoopsinfo.com.

What is your vision of the XOOPS product?

What is your vision of the XOOPS project?

Given the events over the past few months / years, I can understand your concerns.

However, there is a plan here.

Like you I support XOOPS and all that is possible, however, I became frustrated with the waiting.

Rather than continue to wait, I decided to become a part of the solution, rather than just wait for someone else to 'get around to it' When the call went was made for volunteers, I answered.

Xoops will only succeed if people get involved. By getting involved, I mean by helping the project by doing what they can, be it write code or just answer simple questions.

There are a few people here on the boards who believe that they only way they can help is to argue, be little, and post negative comments. While to some extent this can be good, however, the tone of the post can be a bit grating. Personally, I do not agree with everything that has been done to transition to the New Xoops, however unless we start we will never get there.

If you would like help and be a part of solution, please PM me or anyone on the Project council. I am sure you have some skills that could be put to use.

I get the same error randomly, at the top of the site just above the logo. I can't cause it to happen.

It started happening when I attempted to install XLanguage. the installation failed so I removed Xlanguage. I started to get error in the popnublog module and the user information screen, I disabled the popnublog then this error.

Xoops 2.0.16
Xlangauge 3.01
popnublog 3.12
My Sql 4.0.27- Standard
php 4.4.7

Did anyone find a fix for this?

At this point I would not goto XOOPS version 2.2.

With the Debug option you want to use the Inline mode. It should give you something on the white screen, If not switch to the Smarty tmplates.

Just on a side thought you might want to double check your permissions.

EDIT:
I just realized that I am using the 2.0.16 version compared to the required 2.2+ of the XOOPS framework.. Should I change XOOPS version or should i look for another solution?

What version of XOOPS are you running?

Of course we will help you.

A good place to start is how much do you know?

It appears that you will be starting a web site from scratch.

you might want to have a look athttp://xoopsdocs.net/modules/docs/en/xn-001/online/index.html This is an introduction to Xoops.

From there go through the rest of documentation.

Once you have your core files set up and running, then you can install the modules that you need for a forum. I suggest CBB 3.08 which can be downloaded here. You will need to install the frameworks
This should get you started.

Hello I amthinking of starting a social networking website for nurses.. where the members can

because the module repository is down and I can't search for the following mods (and maybe more) can someone point me to a website/resource that I can use in using my site..
Can someone, who had experience with making sa social networking website using XOOPS help me?

I'm really no programmer :)

The module repository recently underwent a bit of maintenance to remove some of the dead links. As the XOOPS site is updated the module repository will be re-opened

However I understand that doesn't help you now. Here are some links to help get you started.

Try XOOPS module Userpage That can be downloaded here:
http://www.herve-thouzard.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=6&lid=145

For the forum I suggest cbb 3.08 That can be downloaded here
http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1001&release_id=1279#selected
You will also need frameworks to get it going that can be downloaded from here:
http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1357&release_id=1174#selected

Try this links for your polls:
https://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=51&lid=1546
In addition you might try Formulaire it does have a basic poll feature. it can be found here.
https://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=83&lid=1152

For the want ad try
https://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=9&lid=1574

Be sure to check if there are updated version available. I am almost sure other people here might have some other suggestions.

You might want to check the XoopsInfo.com and make the request for the modules you need.

We are all here to help you. All you have to do is ask.

That is one way.

If you download the full version, and read the Readme.txt file. It will give you step by step instruction how to upgrade from 2.0.13 to 2.0.16
