Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I have made modules before...

The question is... Can I design a module to have a single block that may be duplicated as many times as i want WITHOUT copying the module directory?

For example, let's say I wanted to make a recent headlines block. But the user of the module should decide that they could duplicate it for Technology news, Political news, then Entertainment news or any amount of duplicated blocks they want.

I would say, this would not be a difficult change to make in the core, and it would keep people from having to copy the module directory... Copying the module directory and changing the code is totally unnecessary when it could be done easily in the core, and it could be part of the blocks admin.

I don't think it should be necessary to duplicate modules just because I want to have 2 separate sets of blocks. For example, lets say I wanted recent news from one category, then some where else on the site, recent news from another category.

It should be a very simple process to clone a block in the administration menu. After all, a cloned block is nothing more than a function call with different parameters.

This would involve keeping the options for each cloned block separate in the database though.

Any one tried this before?

And on top of that, the solutions to add HTML pages are not satisfactory to me. I should be able to make new HTML pages without messing with new modules, and I should be able to individually put each page anywhere in the current hierarchy of pages that I want. Just an idea.

Well, my concern was not so much what modules came with xoops. My concern is this, it would be nice to list modules/pages in a heirarchical fashion. Lets say I had 5 game modules. I should be able to have on the menu a title that says "Games," with just a page describing each game. and under that on the menu, I could have the 5 games.

well... maybe i had an old version of the module, but replacing that file worked for me. At first the high scores were not being updated, after replacing the file, now they are. Maybe it's just magic.. :) I don't know.

I tried downloading the newest version of the jar file, and that seemed to help me out:

This is more of a core request than a module request.

But it would be nice if modules could be made more hierarchical... When you have 10 or more modules, it kinda gets out of hand. So, one module could be the parent of the other, or something like that.

Also, it would be nice if I could make a module that only had custom HTML on it. Kinda like WF Channel, but I could make as many pages as I want like that, and position them anywhere in the heirarchy (mentioned above).

I think that would make XOOPS much better organized
