I think I will try installing phpadsnew, but I do not want to install the phpadsnew module on the XOOPS site because it does not seem to be the latest version and it's unfortunately confusing. Hell, you cannot even tell easily which version you're supposed to download here -- what a shame.

Anyway, if I install it as a stand-alone from the phpads site will I have to install it as a separate database or is it part of my XOOPS database?

I installed phpadsnew yesterday and it works great. The only integration with XOOPS is the ability to click install in the admin menu and then use the link in modules to open the phpadsnew control panel.

It does take a lot of getting used to and if you dont need anything fancy then this would be way over the top for you.

However once you have setup a user account and created a banner or two, simply use the option to generate banner code (I use the java script option).

to display the banner on Xoops. Go to banners in the admin panel. Create a new banner and in the HTML code section paste the code generated by phpadsnew

You only need to create one banner in xoops, this will display all banners from phpadsnew (as per your settings).

The installation documentation seems to be dealing with using phpAdsNew as an adserver.

Since phpAdsNew has been incorporated into Xoops, should we set it up as separate tables or should we create a separate DB.

I'm going to set up a separate DB, but I was just curious.

cheers,
B

This too is a good question -- any answers?

I'm interested in utilizing ad banner management to my site and it seems like phpads is the way to go. But from what I can tell, the phpadsnew module here seems confusing. For instance, there are two versions of it both uploaded on the same day and time but there's no way of telling what's the current version.

How do you use the stand alone with Xoops? Do you install it like a module or something? Where can you download the most recent version?

Any help on where and how to start this process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I like phpadsnew also (although they recently put out a new release, so I believe 2.0 is outdated now.)

There was also a phpadsnew module, but I couldn't get it to work. The stand alone seems to work just fine tho.

I've been thinking about adding a member list to my site. But I want it to be similar to a yearbook, in that it would have a short bio, and contact info along with the avatar of the member (in my group, people use their personal photos as their avatars).

Is there anything around that can do that?

I figured out what I did!

It was showing me the date, "Feb 28, 05" but the number of days in the month!

I modified my global.php file and must've hit the t instead of the d in the date formatting lines. As you know, t tells you the number of days in a month 28-31.

LOL! Oh man, the crazy shit I do!

Yeah, I checked it and it returned the correct date:

I'm having a problem with XOOPS posting the wrong date in modules and all over the site. For instance if I update a module in system admin it will say, "last update Feb 28, 2005" which of course has not even happened yet.

And when I post in NewBB or submit an article in News it will give the posted date as "Feb 28, 2005." It respects the time, just not the date.

I'm not quite sure what exactly I did to cause this foul up. Also, I know it's not the server because I did a check on it and it returned the correct day, date, and time.

Anyway have any ideas how I can fix this? Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Zolton,

You will need to set up your preferences first to get it to work. Go to System>Admin>Images and select your category and privileges.

Thanks! I did that but the time on the server is correct. "time
Friday 11th of February 2005 01:19:14 PM PST -0800"

Now I'm wondering where else I should look to find out why the date is wrong and everything is showing up as Feb 28.
