Hi

This is an interesting post for me. Along similar lines is it possible to have multiple forums (phpbb2 ones) where a user would register with one and automatically register with them all? Another thing is should he or she login or off on one automatically do so on the others - is this possible?

Edit: mmm - come to think of it perhaps i should be posting this on phpbb boards? hehe

Hi

Oh well, can't see you really liking the site i am creating as it doesn't really show any innovation. Really this is out of necessity as i need to keep it absolutely simple so people find the shops as fast as possible.

Shareware section is going to be created soon but i might kick off another XOOPS portal for that.

Take a look at the Running forum as it has the subforum hack installed. Allows you to create a monster VBulletin style board without any trouble - damn good mod. I am going to use that forum type for the rest infact.

Anyone know where to get good icons (like the ones i've used on the first page) but smaller? I know i can reduce the ones i have used but they start to lose definition if i do and look messy.

Still some work to do before i can market this site but hopefully i getting there? What do you think?

Yes i have to agree that finding the information you want quickly isn't exactly top of the list if you are a newcomer here that is. I am no website wizard but i have been trying out my designs on people who have some computer using experience. It has shocked me how intolerant and impatient they are. If they don't see something within just a few seconds they get ****** off. They are even worse late at night after a few drinks hehe. Practically worn me out trying to get a look that satisfies all. I am not going to criticise this site or any other cos i know how hard it is to design one. I do know though that you have to cater for the lowest denominator (daftest). I should think a site like this that caters for people that are new to portals etc needs the basics blatently staring people in the face as soon as they come on the site. It seemed very hard for me to find even the installation info i needed which was a bit odd hehe.

Great product though all the same.

Cheers hsalazar

I couldn't get it to work with the commands available but you got me thinking. The method i tried below worked a treat - perfect . Means i can create an ideal first page now.

Thanks again.

Which Module?

Hello again!

I need a module (or method) of putting a block on a page which contains links to other sections of my XOOPS site. I have experimented with simple blocks where i copy the url of say something within Weblinks. It does work but the problem i now have is that it is opening in another window. How can i make the links an integral part of the site so someone clicks on that link moves to that link within the site. I am talking a box containing anything upto 50 links. In effect i need a box that is behaving similarly to the Weblink first category page. Could an additional command be placed on the urls i have already been using; or the block code altered in some way?

Thanks kahumbu

Prompt reply appreciated.

As you say i turned on the Autoformat (never had to do this before) and it now works - great.

Back to designing and messing about

Multiple forums on the site now too all connected to that Multimenu module. Will have about 6 i think for now. Well it will keep me occupied (hopefully).

Next thing on the adgenda is a Shareware section. Be looking into it later on today i think.

Good fun this website designing.

Hi

Can't seem to get a new block url to work? Just shows as code. Works fine in the other modules - news etc. Do i need to do something?

I am using the same process to put the Sites-4u link under my name in this (so i must be doing it right) but when using a new block it will show the complete coding for it instead?

Thanks CBlue

Worked a treat. Thank god for a test site though all the same.

Code needed to be inserted up high on the list otherwise i had multiple forum links showing on the main block.

Must say that the programming and designing on these portals and forums is quite something. I have a tendency to delve into files and manipulate things from within but this stuff is so well organised.

Time forra can i think to celebrate.

Cheers

Hello

Hopefully not too difficult a question to answer?

As a subforum hack is not available i intend (and need) to install another forum package. Have already got it up and running on my test site infact. Now i need to tie it into the XOOPS interface. The Forum link on the main menu needs to point to the new forum installation. Where do i find the necessary file for me to edit?

Cheers
