If you have cpanel, go to 'backup' and simply click the database you want to backup from the list on the page. You get a gzip download to your local machine. To restore this database, you click the restore database function (on the same page) and browse for the database you downloaded on your LM. Upload it as it is. The backup and restore functions are completely compatible to restore the DB without errors (even large databases) Yo dont need to make any setting in cpanel or change anything.

Ive used it many times, no problems of catches. On restore, always allow the screen to load completely. Dont be in a hurry to click on. It can take several seconds or minutes on a large database.

The one I have seen most of is
XOOPS2_mod_mymodule_v1.1

Inside the archive, there is usually one folder containing the files which should be uploaded to the server in modules ie; mymodule

Sometimes we also see modules/mymodule

still waiting to see a formal convention.

go to System admin>modules in the modules admin page make the Order(0 = hide)column 0. The module is still installed and working, but it is removed from the main menu

No, I get your drift, there are some threads here recommending certain modules for best usage. To be fair, you have to do your own trials on a test site or local server to really know what's best for you.

I recommend smart modules in preference for nearly all my sites, but others use AMS, news and wfsections etc. You must try them all in test sites. It's the best learning curve.

Do you mean a list of good modules for articles and a list for calendars etc?

If so look in the modules repository. They are all in section for different usage.
