there are two ways of doing this. you can edit your profile and make the changes in your settings so that by default you view topics in threaded mode.

or you can go to your contol panel's system administration prepferences, general settings and change the "default comment display mode" to threaded. (default is flat, and the other option is nested.)

I just made a fresh install of newbb pro. (I've had an unresolved problem with v 1.02. I did't realize that the download that I just got was 1.03 already.)

I'm using the English language in my site.

Some feedback:
- the "new message" icon button is in spanish "nuevo mensaje"
- when i installed the module, i had to change permissions for the whole newbb folder. (which surprised me because the modules usually have the right permissions for the files and folders. but then again, i could be wrong. i'm still new to xoops. only experience is limited to the few modules i've tried.) is it because it's a ZIP file type and not a TAR.GZ?
- in the newbb\images directory there's an extra archive subject.tar.gz

that's all for now.

great job samuels!

Did you check through admin control panel / settings /template / newbbpro templates the content of the templates?

I just did. I can view it, but what am I supposed to be looking for?

Sorry for what may seem like dumb questions, am still a newbie with XOOPS and CMS

(and I appreciate the assistance. thanks a lot.)

PS
i "updated" it but the error is still there. :(

what's an update really for?

I already delete the files. No luck there. :(

If I update the module (using the update button under admin control panel >modules) what would it do? will it delete the existing threads/messages in the board?

i FTP'd into the site to check the files and I got the message saying "File Type: can't stat `db:newbb_thread.html'"

the same file is listed as "db%3Anewbb_thread.html"

you mean, it's safe to delete files inside the template_c directory?

i really am wondering about the "db%3A" prefixed files.

PHP Debug set to on. Results when viewing a thread:

Parse error: parse error in /home/z/public_html/ismash/templates_c/db%3Anewbb_thread.html on line 85

i looked into the templates_c directory, and found that all files are prefixed with "db%3A".

Kinda weird right?

wow! that's almost a total overhaul of the newbb.

features looks good, and it seems that the functions of the hacks that are being circulated around is being finally integrated into the core.

PS
would it be nice if we stop calling this as "newbb"? following the naming convention for xoops, i think we ought to re-christen it to xBB.

(or is that name taken already )

PPS
since this won't be out for the meantime, can anyone help me with my newbb pro problem here. TIA

have you tried checking your XCG configuration? there are settings there where the image and/or file size of the image you upload is restricted.
