Re: AMS 3.0 not working

Does nobody know how to configure the main page for this module? Is there any documentation (that anyone knows about)?

Thanks,
Tim

Re: AMS 3.0 not working

I thought that this was a fairly well-used module - does no-one know how to configure the opening screen?

There appear to be some blocks available for most viewed articles etc, but I cannot find any documentation on how to make them work. I think it is part of the article spotlight functionality, but I can't find any doco.

Thanks
Tim

Re: Retrieving articles from database

If I can edit the sql file in an editor, I can also extract the text that I was originally after with an editor.

No need to load the database into anything.

That was all I originally needed to know. I have extracted the necessary text now. Thanks to all those that helped.

Re: AMS 3.0 Topic list

OK - now I have AMS all working under php5 I just need one more piece of knowledge....

This involves the layout that a user sees initially. All I want is a list of the topics and subtopics, followed by the article titles that are in each.

You can see here what I mean. The last article appears in full, so it is under the "Marine" topic. There is another article under the "Marine fish" subtopic, but you can't see that it is there. Is there a way to get just topics, subtopics and the article titles that are in each?

UPDATE - I just found this, which looks better, but still doesn't use the categories. I am pretty sure that this is the Classic view, with 1 column.

I tried to contact the module authors and still can't due to the same reasons as noted earlier in this thread. I hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Tim

Quote:
Or change it to: KEY search (hometext(450),bodytext(450)) This will not impair functionality during testing.

What do I use to make this change?

Thanks,
Tim

Re: Retrieving articles from database

For safety's sake I was trying to import into a blank database. I am using XAMPP and creating a new database with phpMy Admin - and then trying to import my backup into the blank database.

Re: Retrieving articles from database

Hi guys,

I think the part I am trying to import is failing. I get this:

Resized Image

If I am reading this correctly, it is not importing the table:
xoops_ams_text(
which I think is the one I want.

Can I fix this?

I am sorry I am a dbtard. I really want the text of those articles back though.

Thanks again,
Tim

Re: Retrieving articles from database

Thanks very much for your help guys

I am too scared to try to restore the database tables to the live site, but if I could extract the text from the AMS module in the backup, I would author new articles in the new version, and just paste the old content. This would be the best and safest solution for me, I think.

I like the look of XAMPP to try to hack the content out of the backup using a local copy of phpmyadmin. I will let you know how it goes....

Thanks for your help,
Tim

Re: Retrieving articles from database

The backup was made using Xoops backup and restore.

Backup and restore your Database

The backup is sql.

I was worried about opening it with phpMyAdmin in case it overwrote my current database - it is a backup and has the same name and attributes. Just being cautions.

Thanks,
Tim
