Hi Stew,

Thanks for the input.

I had tried xoopsgallery, but I didn't like some of the display behaviours. Or at least I wasn't able to get my head around configuring it.

Anyway, see my post above.

I was just about to make a donation to XOOPS via Paypal using my AMEX.

I decided to read the privacy statement -

I clicked the link and get taken to a page advertising all the wonderful Paypal services I can avail myself of. Nowhere is there a privacy statement. I search and finally, at the bottom of the page, in small print "Privacy". The first couple of pages seem straight forward enough. But then we get into storing cookies on my PC "to assist with customer service" and help Paypal understand (my) needs. Excuse me?

Next, I am advised Paypal will "store my personal information" for "customer service" and to "keep (me) informed about " all manner of things.

Having just deleted my favourite email account, which has been with me since 1994 and has now been killed by too much SPAM, there is no way I am going to open that door!

I'd be happy to donate, but not thru Paypal.

Thanks

I'm tiring of downloading and installing photo-album modules that either don't work or when they do generally lack what I'd regard as essential.

So I'm asking for recommendations- the module I'd like should have

*categorised "album pages",
*user uploads,
*make thumbnails
*display a thumbnail catalogues to visitors
*display captions and text BELOW or above the thumpbnail or picture, not alongside where there is seldom enough room.

Anyone know of something that might fit the bill?

TIA

Does anyone know of a downloads module that offers more feature than the standard one? For example, the ability to control download permissions by group?

TIA

groups management has only been made easier

Thanks, that'll work but I reckon the old way was better and faster - I note that when I check users on one page and then move to the next all the tags on the previous page are lost

Which means that one page has to be processed, and then start again with the next page. When there are 1500 users to go through, that is very tedious.

Under earlier versions I could simply select users from a list on the left and assign them to a special users group on the right.

Is this still available in v2.x and if so, where/ how?

Or what is the way to re-organise users by groups?

And please don't tell me I have to do it one user at a time

regards

Itś been a while since I looked at the source of XOOPS. Itś come some way and what I want to do is turning out easier than I thought. I think Iĺl do my hacks and feed them back to the group.

That said, an emerging model may be the Enterprise-X module.

Essentially, I advocate that News postings should only show the title, date published and text, since most businesses would not want to indicate who of their staff published the item. Same with Section articles, FAQs etc.

Nor should there be an indication how many times an article has been read.

The problem was the imago7 theme and the changes demanded to theme.html by zentracker

Oh well, shame, I really liked that :(

Thanks
