Not used Altern8 so cant help there.
It is an old module, released in early 2004, and there have been far more powerful and easier news based modules released since then.
If you try News 1.44 or Smartsection, AMS, WF-section I and many others can help

I believe that GIJOE from the Peak site is working on one at the moment.

He has one that runs with 2.0.14jp but there are issues with using it with the Official XOOPS version so he has said he will work on a new version.

See this Thread

I must be thick or something but whilst setting the prefs in cbb 304 i came accross this and I can't work out what the heck it means or at least in what situation would you use it?

Still not managed to sort the time issue out and I have a little problem with the footer in Mozilla.

Seems ok in IE and as most of the users use IE this isn't a huge issue but I use Mozilla and it's annoying.

With the older versions of XOOPS I could cut and paste the center left block into the table at the top of the page but for some reason I can't seem to get it to work - any ideas?

Again the site is HERE

I'm in the process of adapting some ideas from a few themes into one.

I'm a cut and paste specialist as I've no real coding knowledge.

This piece of code was taken from a french site, I've changed it to read in english but its an hour too fast.
I'm pretty sure it's not using server time as I've adjusted that and it made no difference.

Any ideas how I can adjust it to lose an hour?

The theme - which is very much still in its early days is
called Default2 at This site
My hope is to adopt some features from the Solid silver and blog_lravb themes and apply them to the default theme, and learn a bit about code and css in the process.

Cheers
Mike

It now appears I have the same problem.
I first thought it was a problem specifically to do with updating the forum from v1 to v2 see https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=49929&forum=28

but I had only just updated the site from 13.1 to 13.2.

As I had no solution given and had tried everything suggested and that is detailed in the faq I uninstalled the old forum. NOT something I wanted to do!!
I deleted the newbb folder and uploaded the new newbb but in admin/module view it says module not found.
I deleted it and uploaded cbb 1.16 but again in the admin module screen it says module not found.

Permissions were set for the old forum,
cant get near the permissions on the new forum as,
once I upload the new files the forum module ceases to exist on the module admin page as does every other module that would be listed below it.

This is a real wind up,

Followed the read me to the letter,

Deleted files in old newbb folder
Uploaded new files
Ran the newbb1 to newbb2 script
Uploaded the modified main.php in /modules/system/admin/modulesadmin
deleted the templates_c files except for index.php

Result is a blank site, admin page is ok but on the module page everything from where the Forum module box is and below is blank.

Any clues please

after I upload the new files to the newbb folder for some reason in modules/system/admin.php?fct=modulesadmin only a few of the modules appear, the forum is not one of them and all not yet installed modules also do not appear.
I tried upgrading the system module is it is one of the few that appear but I just get a blank screen.

However when I revert to the old forum everything appears as normal.
