1. Open or edit "xoops_version.php" in the news module
2. Goto line 138
3. Change the code to
4. Save it and upload if needed then go to Admin area
5. Mouse over "System Admin" icon
6. Click "Modules"
7. Look for "News" module
8. Click the Update icon in the "Action" column
9. Goto News Preference
10. Change to "3"

Yes you could.. hack it I will found it for you because I want 3 topics too not 5 but I forgot about it because is not a big problem unless I have a long news.

I have already request for this but good to have someone who is willing to redesign it.
- Popup menu need to be fix when mouse over the icon.
- The Group setting list of all checkbox need to organize (align it left or make two column).

This XOOPS can fully customize to your preferences, you need to take a long time for trials and errors and then once you get it you can do everything you want.
Like me, I worked on it for one week only testing and finding modules. Once I found it, every module I hack it and tweak it to my preferences.
