I'm having the SAME Problem with my Xoops 2.4.4. For the last week (I think, days have been blurring together.) I've been trying to establish a new Xoops Site for my Homeowners Association, but I can not display any kind of graphic from my site. The Banners during the install procedure are just placeholders, and on my last attempt, any theme I tried (Front end or back office) the ONLY image I could see was the Logo for the Protector module. (Weird, huh?)

I tried viewing via IE8, Firefox and even Blazer on my Palm T|X. I then used firefox on my wife's computer.

I took both computers to speedtest dot net and checked my speeds. Testing a server about ~100 miles away, My wife's machine clocked 8.83 Mbits/sec down, 3.1 Mbits up and pinged at 26ms. My laptop Clocked 19.95 down, 3.16 up and pinged at 23ms.
This being said, I'm not sure I'm looking at a problem with server load or connection speeds.

Now, My Host is Hostmonster, and My server space has the following attributes:

Operating system Linux
Architecture x86_64
MySQL version 5.1.46-log
Apache version 2.2.14
Kernel version 2.6.28-10.40.intel.IGB.BHsmp
PHP version 5.2.13

I can't imagine why I'm having an issue like this, but if it helps, THat really neato Cumulus Tag Cloud on the right margin only looks like a bunch of words, not an animated mass of words like "Cumulus" would imply. Also, A few months ago, I used simpleScripts to install xoops 2.4.4 and had no problems. Images looked great, I adored the Oxygen Back office theme in both orange and silver, AND i could see what that cumulus thingy is all about. Every thing changed when I took down my prototype site and tried to put up this new one.

Any ideas?

*Addition:
I went and had a chat with Hostmonster Support. I had them veridy my hosting account and domains (all three of them) to ensure nothing was missing or preventing images from being veiwable. Hostmonster support said everything looked fine, except the Xoops site.

* Another Addition:
Wow! I just finished the install wizard for my xoops site (Default packages only, no extra modules, templates, anything. Straight from the core download to the server.)
I ran the checksum.php and I have an OBSENELY long list of files that are missing, INCLUDING a boatload of PNG files. Here's a clipping:

I read the release notes that came with the Xoops 2.4.4 download. Couldn't find any reference to a new manual. I"ll look around the Xoops.org site and see if I can find find the current edition. Even though XU-oo2 references an older version, I thought the process was still current.

I'll also look at the Sourceforge doc repository.

Thank you, ghia.

*ADDITION:

Just looked around, Sourceforge Docs list XU-002 as current, and yesterday in this thread Mamba referred someone to this same document. What document do you have, and may I have a copy?

Also, if XU-002 is the current, can it be added to the docs directory as part of the core download along with the other current manuals?

try different themes. I found on my exxops experiments that some blocks don't play well with some themes for whatever reason.

I just installed 2.4.4 and after the install wizard I was presented with a blank page as the first look of the site I created. As it turns out, there;s some king of glitch in the THeme I was set to (don't remember which one) that resulted in my seeing nothing but whitespace. I appended my address with /admin.php (so the address is www.mywebsite.bla/admin.php) and was able to log in because the back end has a differenttheme on it. I was then able to get to preferences and change blocks and themes and fixed the issue.

Good Luck.

Well, Unfortunately my attempts to migrate failed. I chuck this up to the fact that I really have no experience in this and I have simply bitten off more than I can chew.

On the bright side, the site was solely populated with sample content, so nothing with any substance was lost.

To summarize what happened, I followed the instruction as best as I could, everything made sense once i got into the files and database ( and related Help files) but I apparently muckered up something because Xoops at the new location was entirely blank, The admin credentials didn't have priviledges to use the Login block or my first six attempts to log in. Once my IP was no longer banned, the site reported not having a database. At that point I just trashed the whole build and started over. I deleted the databases, deleted the database users, and purged the domain Root so I could start all over.

I created the database users, then the new database. I downloaded a fresh xoops 2.4.4 zip file and decompressed it in my local machine. THen I ftp'd it to my webserver as per XU-002. (Installation guide) I ran the install wizard and then uploaded my modules and themes. What do I have? A Xoops site that won't display any graphics. I wiped the domain and reinstalled a few more times but I'm getting the same thing. I"ll post in a more appropriate place and include a screenshot. Thanks for the advice nonetheless!

What is the "login.php" in the "extras" directory for?

Specifically, Xoops 2.4.4 download, NOT from SVN. After de-archiving the download, there's an extras folder that contains one file, login.php. what is that used for? I'm a Xoops Noobie and really don't like using the login Block that xoops natively uses. Is this "extra" an alternative?

Thanks a bunch!

I am finally ready ( I think) to deploy my first XOOPS site, and to do that I need to transfer my install from a domain I was using as a private dev/test server to it's real world home.

Both domains are on HostMoster and are under the same account, so Ideally it would be a matter of copying the files from the source directory to the Destination directory, but I am pessimistic enough to assume that is not the case.

THe site to be moved is XOOPS 2.4.4 and I have a fresh XOOPS 2.4.4 installation on the destination, (both provided by simplescripts) and I backed up my original site to my local hard drive for safety sake.

I have read over the XU-002 Installation Guide and the XU-003 Operations Guide but did not find anything particularly helpful there.

Is there a document out there that covers moving a XOOPS website from one domain to another? Am I the first to have such an issue, or did I miss the document that describes the procedure?

Thank you for helping.

In my Control Panel Home, I am getting 2 security warnings:

WARNING: Folder /Blah/Blah/public_html/sitename/xoops_lib is inside DocumentRoot!
For security considerations it is highly suggested to move it out of DocumentRoot.

and

WARNING: Folder /Blah/blah/public_html/sitename/xoops_data is inside DocumentRoot!
For security considerations it is highly suggested to move it out of DocumentRoot.

Now, I'd be happy to make a new directory for these folders and move them, but since this is my first XOOPS site and am still learning, I don't know how to tell XOOPS to look in the new locations.

My domain is hosted by Hostmonster and Xoops was installed using SimpleScripts, if that helps angle down the cause and solution.

Thanks!
