no this looks different to what we had. I would have noticed if ther is an admin panel for PMs.
Maybe it was a newBB2.x functionality? Was it you who mentioned CBB is based on newBB1?
The CBB upgrade only brought in new features and well the forums is then on the current development status.
The design of HNN is a bit now destroyed and I have no idea yet what was customized 3 years ago when I took over the website. It is sad to loose this compact design, but to have the forums run somehow with an uptodate software is fine as well.
Dissappointing is still this attachment problem and the PM access problem.
The old server is down again and well i doubt the server will survive june 8th.
I have to decide now to try things out for another period of time or to make what I rescued so far online and face the complains of the members.

Getting into the Inbox is the biggest Prob.
The attachments, well I can just disallow.

About the problem with attachments in a posting:

I uploaded a very small jpeg file of 15128 bytes. when I download, the file has a size of 15131 bytes.
In the uploads/newsbb folder it has the correct size this time. I anaylized the difference with a hex editor. In the beginning, there is a 0A 0A 0A in hex.
As the file is not stored in the database i guess there is something wrong in the XOOPS code maybe.

omg, the Inbox works, but not for my account, only for other accounts. any idea why it is related to my account?

Could it be that the number of PMs i do have in my Inbox is to high? I do have more then 3200 PMs as far as I remmebr from the old forums.

I can read the messages of the Inbox when Using URLs like this

http://www.heathernova.net/readpmsg.php?start=3236

so only the Inbox overview is a problem with my account.



another note:
On the old server there was "Sentbox" and "Outbox" in so on. Isn't that available for XOOPS 2.0.18.1? Was it a newbb2 feature maybe? cbb is based on newbb1 or 2?

i tried inline and popup mode as well als "Smarty Templates debug" in "General Sessions" of the prefenreces menu, no errors.

Thanks stefan88, i made the backup and can go back anytime.

I upgraded the forums. Thanks John for the advice.
The forums is upgraded and there are quite some more features now.
The layout is not the same anymore as it was modified before but well that is a minor problem. What still does not work correctly, are attachments!
I thought the update would help. When I upload a 270kB jpeg, it is finally presented as 123kb attachment. When downloading it is of course not visible as jpeg. As the upload is not stored in the database i think, is it a php problem maybe? Any idea of what the problem is?

I will change the forums to allow text files. Maybe I can see on the uploaded textfile itself how it changed by the upload. The downloaded file itself seems to have the size noticed in the post so.

The second major problem I do have is still that when trying to invoke the Inbox, i am still getting a blank page. Is that something session specific as well maybe or a trick in a php file? John you helped me getting back into the admin panel, any idea how i can get the Inbox back to work?

Thank you John for the link to the News 1.56 download page. I updated the News module and with the readme's I finally was succesfull. I could add and edit news on the new server! So this is another big progress to rescue HNN.

Thanks you very much for sending me the gallery module. I will rebuild the gallery when HNN is back online.

I still have to solve one big step now to make HNN online on the new server. The biggest step is now to make the forums update. The forums is the most important module to me! It contains 110000 postings since 2005.
I do have newBB 2.01 running. Attachment are not working correctly with it on the new server with mysql5/php5?. I have to ask again, what are the best upgrade steps for this version? can I upgrade from newBB 2.01 to CBB 3.08? Is it compatibale?

I am very shocked!

I cannot login anymore to XOOPS at the new server.
Yesterday it seems so promising and now this big problem!

Adittionally the old server is down as of of outage in the datacenter where it is hosted. ther was fire and an explosion in an electrical room. Well i would have had just one more week there anyway.

So I am kinda stuck and have no idea why i cannot login anymore. I am getting the "Thanks for logging in .." page and then i am back at the page where i started. Any ideas?

The "old" HNN will be onine till june 8th. Not to much time for me to update the new server. How to update the news? the admin panel doesnt work for the news!
