Re: HOME BUTTON takes one to INDEX.php Page~How to correct

Hi Runeher,

Thanks for your reply...

When you say "change the link" that may be what I want to do, but am asking how? I have been to every file I know to get that home button to point to

As it is now...it points tohttp://2nolimit.com/xoops

The difference is the need t o add /index.php in that coding..Otherwise, one will go directly to the index page with all the directories and files...

Hope this helps explain a bit more...any suggestions? and if changing the "link" helps, then what file do I change it in?

Jim

Re: Member See Index Page When Click on Link Buttons~How to Change or Redirect

Hi Peekay,

Thanks for your input...When you say the server is badly set up "when this happens"...I am taking it you mean our host provider...If so, can you perhaps recommend the host who might have a better config?

I know we probably should not do this here on forums, but feel free to email me if you have time with any recommendations...

Thanks again...

Re: Theme Problem

After you unzipped the theme on to your desktop, did you upload the main theme folder, without checking the contents inside?

I have found with some themes, I have to check the contents inside the main folder which displays on desktop. Sometimes there is a "repeat" on the main folder, and thus the theme will not "take" as it should. I always check the main folder after zipping to desktop for ftp to server...just a tad of information that may assist you and any others who see your question...

Have a great day and hope you get it worked out...

HOME BUTTON takes one to INDEX.php Page~How to correct

Hi all and thanks to all of you who are helping me out...

I have uploaded and installed several themes...they all seem to have a common problem..On the left main menu, it shows "home" button at top and when one clicks on "home" they go to the index.php page...hmmmm...we don't need that...we need them to go to the page itself...

Here is what I need to correct but not sure how after searching so long and getting my eyes "sore"...The line in the bold italic, needs to be showing href="http://2nolimit.com/xoops/index.php">Home</a>

As you see below, it does not include the /index.php but just stops with /xoops which takes them to index.php page to see all the directories and files...Hope this all makes sense and how can I edit this ?

Re: Member See Index Page When Click on Link Buttons~How to Change or Redirect

Hi Bandit-X,

I really have no clue on the httpd.conf file or the question proposed here...I only know that I did have to call my host provider and the information provider solved all issues with modules not going to the "main module" page. We simply corrected the file mentioned...I believe someone earlier mentioned that it could be on server config and that is why we decided to check with our providers...servers are many and as such, all configs differ a tad or much as some would say...

Even though server host do provider setup on the various gpn tools and sources such as xoops, nuke, jamola and more...they generally have a standarded config and many will find they need to contact support with host provider to "tweak" the issues...

Maybe someone else can assist you with this...but I do appreciate your response and taking time to do so

If your install module points members to INDEX.PHP where they see all files and folders...read

OKIE...THANKS ALL FOR THE HELP...I phone my server provider and they assisted...so I am posting this for any others who run into same problem and use cpanel on their host site...

For the most part, all modules we have reviewed and tried to use on XOOPS are written in php...thus...

When a member clicks on that module link they go directly to your index.php file and see all the folders, contents in that module...AND WE KNOW WE DO NOT WANT THAT...we want them to go directly to the ready to use main page of modules...

So...

On cpanel...

1. Sign in to your cpanel on your host provider
2. Find the FILE MANAGER and open
3. Locate the public_html folder and click folder tab
4. After the public_html folder is open, click the name tab to right of folder (important...do NOT click on the folder icon, BUT the name next to the folder)
5. You will see the file .htaccess (click on the folder and open and EDIT file...

If you see only the below on the edit

DirectoryIndex index.html

Then you MUST add directly under that line the following

DirectoryIndex index.php

DO NOT REMOVE THE directoryindes index.php line you see, SIMPLY add the line above UNDER it and then SAVE...

This should stop the problem we have tried to describe and all future modules will be ready to go...

Good luck and thanks to all of you who assisted or answered my forums...you pointed me to the right direction..."phone my server provider"...so together we all help each other

THAT IS WHY I LOVE XOOPS!!
