Ok now a serious thread regarding small small mistakes we do while setting up big XOOPS websites. I recently edited/hackedhttp://www.xoops.net.br/index.php

and the reason for this editing/hacking is nothing but to let the owner know how venerable his site may be. If any anonymous is allowed to edit your sites content why would he be so honest ?

The main thing is why do we have Anonymous listed under the groups ? and why do we have such venerable options in XOOPS that gives rights to anonymous group members ? this is a serious venerability. Any beginner can make such mistakes, giving all the rights to anonymous users, i think this functionality needs to be improved a little.

Thanks & Regards,

I have set the following in my system preferences.

Server Timezone:(GMT+5:30)Bombay, Calcutta,Madras,New Delhi
Default Timezone:(GMT+5:30)Bombay, Calcutta,Madras,New Delhi

Bug 1: The city "Madras" has been renamed as "Chennai"

Bug 2: When a new user signs up on my website, if they select (GMT+5:30) as the default timezone, or leave it un changed, in both cases the timezone of every user is set to (GMT+5:00)Ekaternburg, islamabad, karachi, Tashkent automatically.

Thanks & Regards,

It is just a simple page with links to those functionalities which already are there in XOOPS profile. it's just a little different in User Interface. If you check your "view account" page you will find this module is just a customization of it.

Hello experts,

I have recently customized XOOPS 2 for my college students community ietBugs.com I have 2 basic questions.

Q1) How to setup a default welcome private message for newly registered users ? is this functionality already available ? I wish to send a customised welcome private message whenever a new user gets register on the portal.

I don't want to spam people by sending them e-mails for every single thing.

Q2) Is it possible to setup a banner without a link ? I tried to do this by not giving a link in url field and even tried inserting just IMG tag for image in code field. But XOOPS seems not to support my code and overwrites with some other html code with target _blank. That i don't want to do.

helps please,
Best Regards,
Amol

Thanks Bluestocking, These are great comments for a beginner. I wish I stand on your expectations and contribute something to this great XOOPS community.

I asked to review ietBugs.com not amuDee.com,
did you checked ietBugs.com ?

Amol

Thanks for your reviews, i think it would be great if i make the home page as secondary page and give some introduction about the Institute on the first enterance page.

Re: How can i incorparate an intro flash in my site before my main page?

upload your flash intro page in the root directory and rename it to default.html or any other extension.

Now ask your server administrator to prioritise default.html over index.php Only your web server administrator can set the priority of "Default Document"

Example: default.htm,default.html,index.php
in this case if there is no default.htm page in the root directory then it will check for the second one, and if not second one it will check the next one to consider as th default document.

give a link to index.php on the default.html and get going.

Hope this helps,
Amol Bharti
