Thanks anyway... now I just have to go make a new banner :)

Back again with another odd problem.
(Site url is at the Online Dictionary of Playground Slang).

Issue: When I click on the buttons it 'thinks' about it then reloads the main index page!

I've checked the internal link paths and they all seem to be ok. For example, the full 'Contacts' link ishttp://www.odps.org/xoops/html/modules/contact but clicking on it returns the main page!

Links to *external* programs (i.e. other parts of the site outside the XOOPS directory) work fine. The only problem is within the XOOPS directory.

Anyone have any suggestions?

so basically all the files inside upload folder should be copied to your root XOOPS folder and make sure they overwrite your existing files. <snip>

Many thanks.... on the fifth attempt it all worked properly... and so, so quickly too! :)

God only knows what I was doing cos I'm *sure* I tried this before... but it's there.. and (for me) worth the effort...!

(btw: you are up *late*! - or is that early?)

are you trying to install IPB standalone or the xipb module from www.bbpixel.com ?

If youre trying to install a standalone IPB i.e one you downloaded from invisionboard.com then I dont think this can be installed as a standard XOOPS module.

The xipb mod from bbpixel is a hacked version of ipb 1.3 made to install as a XOOPS module, although it does require overwriting some XOOPS core files.

If it is xipb your trying to install then you just upload content of upload directory within the zip file you downloaded to your XOOPS root directory then install as a normal module, there should be instructions in an html file on how to install it within the module package.

The guys at www.bbpixel.com are pretty helpful though should you be having more problems.

I'm trying to install IPB as a module within the standard XOOPS framework. In fact I'm now using a 'vanilla' install of XOOPS and then trying to upload IPB - 1.4ha now by the way :).

Here's where I start having problems. The install instructions begin as follows:

=========
Tutorial :: Install Fresh NEW

1. Copy overwritten all of content inside "upload" folder (include subs directories) into
"http://yoursite.com/Xoops_root_dir/".

=========

What I read from this is that I 'simply' upload everything *within* the directory (one folder at a time if necessary) into the root folder... *not* into the .xoops/modules/ directory.

There is obviously *something* I've not tried but right now I'm damned if I can work out exactly *what*!! I can see the ipboard module within the modules directory but it isn't showing up in the module list ready to be installed.

Basically, no matter what I've done so far, it simply does not seem to install or work! It's driving me crazy

Ok... I give up. I have tried every way I can think to install this and get it to work... but other people have done it - *HOW*??

I *have* read the install instructions several times, but I seem to be not understanding them correctly.

Can someone give me an idiots guide to getting this installed please? Preferably in short sentences :)

Sorted.

Finally created a .htaccess file in the XOOPS directory containing 'DirectoryIndex index.php' which sort of did what you suggested but from an easier angle as I don't own the sever :)

Got there in the end!

The Invision port looks to be *the* best option. Everyone who's installed it says it's great - well it would be after all :)

I had trouble installing it - probably because of the site I'm installing onto - but I'm still trying because I know when it *is* working it will be well worth the effort!

Ok thanks... your explanation helped me understand what is happening - and now I realise the problem isn't quite how I described it at first.

I have an pre-existing installation of Glossword (a glossary/dictionary creator) onsite and have a .htaccess directing direct to that programs index.php. I have assumed (wrongly) that XOOPS would know which index.php was it's own because it was within it's own directory and would simply link back to its own path.

Is there any way of making the 'Home Page' link in the Admin Panel point specifically to the XOOPS index.php file while I configure XOOPS for use as the front end for the site or shall I have to continue to load it manually each time I exit the Admin panel?

Just installed XOOPS to another site.

I was getting this problem so did a total reinstall and it's come back again... so...:

I install Database | install XOOPS | go to site | log in | go to admin panel | install modules | go to Home Page...

... but *when* I go to 'Home Page' the browser reports "You are not authorized to view this page" etc...

In the url bar is the following:
http://www.odps.org/xoops/html/

If I add index.php to the end... it lets me in.

I assume this is a simple fix, but need to know which file to hack at in order to direct the prog back to 'index.php'. Suggestions please?

Thanks.
