Yes, it does, but I don't think I can acces my root folders from there. I can access things like e-mail, domain settings, phpMyAdmin etc. To access the actual files I have to start an FTP link using Dreamweaver.

You don't need to use an ftp client to do this.

Open two windows - one for your XOOPS site and one for your Cpanel. In Cpanel click "File Manager", click the folder named "www", click the folder named "themes", click the file named "theme.html". Look in the upper right and click "Edit File". Make your edits, click "save" at the bottom, then refresh your XOOPS window and you should see your changes.

Here's the source...http://classifieds.phpoutsourcing.com/

If your web host offers Fantastico, it's an automatic install from there. That's how I got it.

Thanks for the compliment.

More discussion about this here...

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=20964&forum=30#forumpost93416

I worked for several weeks trying to get the French-->English version of MyAds running well and it didn't. There's also supposedly a Japanese-->English version of it but I couldn't get the download to work properly. I finally just gave up on MyAds.

I had Noah's Classifieds already on my server but I was hoping for an integrated module in order to use the XOOPS core login. I decided to be content to have it as a separate app with separate login. Seems to be a good reliable application although I haven't seen how it performs with lots of ads in the db. I found a copy of MultiMenu talked about in the thread above and now I'm working on styling it to look like the rest of my XOOPS site. Good luck.

Yes Fritz, I'd say custom content is my primary interest. I have in mind that the admin would have the option of adding fields available to registrants and give them each a name. These would be in addition to the fields already offered in the core. Then the user would complete all or none of those fields and could come back any time and update their profile. They could also check which info fields they'd like displayed publicly along with their name on any posts they make anywhere on the site like forum, news, comments, etc. Some of the information they could choose to display would be dynamically generated from the db. That's it in a nutshell.

My use for this would be to allow users to add information about their various bicycles they ride, their favorite rides or trails, and special accomplishments or interests. With each bike they could upload a pic and select which is their primary bike. Then that pic would display along with their name and stats. The data that would display would come from a training log/calendar where they could log daily mileage and planned events. Maybe the mileage could be displayed to the public as a bar graph representing accomplished vs. goal mileage.

I'm not a gamer but I think some sort of user stats display and profiling might be useful on gaming sites too. I can also imagine community sites devoted to music, movies, and other sports where the members might want to display stats. It seems it would add 'stickiness' to any such site because members would return frequently to log their mileage, scores, favorites, whatever and would check to see how they stack up against others -- a little friendly competition ya know.

The module we've been talking about would be a profile module. It would work in conjunction with other modules where the data is actually input. Or maybe they're one in the same. Dunno. Lets keep talking.

I'm interested in helping with this development however I can.

I'm more of a web designer than a developer. But I have a lot of conceptual ideas. I like to say I can read PHP but I can't write it. With enough patience and brain energy, I can modify a script to make it do what I want, but so far I don't have it in me to create scripts from scratch. I just looked at the Smarty site and read some tutorials there so I think I have a slight grasp on that too. I'm pretty good with English and XHTML and CSS. So if you could use my help, put me on the dev team.

Thanks domineaux. What is the URL to your site? I'd like to see what multi menu looks like and how your Noah site looks after you modified the styles. damjamjim

Remember, if you had a version of Noah ported to XOOPS all those big files would be in the MySql of your XOOPS install. If an upgrade of either XOOPS or Noah comes out you can have some issues with your database, permissions, etc.

Good point domineaux. I hadn't considered that. I haven't though much about the implications, but I wonder if Noah could be hacked to remove the registration/login then make a link to it available only to members of a XOOPS site. In other words, once the XOOPS member is logged in to the XOOPS site, the block with the link to Noah becomes available and they wouldn't have to log in again. Any thoughts?

No. I'm not aware of a module made from Noah so I'm also not aware of any XOOPS sites with Noah integrated. As I said, you'll have to run it as a separate application on your server with a link to it from your XOOPS site.

I can't help you with PHP, sorry. Read the documentation on the PHP website.

Ask your web host support for assistance on where to put Noah on your server.

Best luck... damjamjim

You found it. Now install it on your server, configure it and you can run it as a separate application from Xoops. Make a custom block with a link to it from your XOOPS site and that's the best you'll be able to do.

As for PHP4, you'll need that installed on your server also to run Noah's Classifieds. But if you're talking on a XOOPS forum and using Xoops, you're already running PHP.
******************************************************
But that's not why I started this thread. I asked if anyone had tried to make a XOOPS module using Noah's Classifieds. From the response so far, I guess not.

As a separate application, your users will have to register and login separately with Noah to use it. Their XOOPS login won't work unless it's an integral module.

As a side note: Noah's Classifieds may be referred to as Noah and should not be confused with the new module available here called No-Ah (which name should be changed to avoid such confusion, IMHO).

I think you might be referring to the Brasil Pack.

How is multimenu different from simply making a custom block containing hyperlinks?
