Hi jan.

Yes ive just done this today with my XOOPS its not very difficult. It is much easier to explain this on an instant chat such as msn messinger or aol messinger. You can catch me on the below messengers.

MSN Messenger: nathan@ultima7.com
AOL Messenger: Partysapphire

Or you can email me : nathan@ultima7.com

It's not very hard to set up if you allready have it on your server which i presume you do from your post. I can guide you through it.

Kindest Regards
Nathan

Hi
thanks for your reply.
I am using the 404 trick as I am dealing with a club membership system and mostly computer illiterate people - I have designed it so that they just have to add their membership no on the end of the url instead of trying to explain the ?memb_id=10078 etc. It actually works pretty neatly.

I am now combining the membership system with XOOPS and want a person to have a personalised page by simply typing in the /10078. In my error404.php page i have extracted the member id and looked them up in the database and if existing assigned a few variables such as name level address etc which i wnat to make session variables that i can use in the main XOOPS template and page.

Its looking good but i cant seem to get the $_SESSION working - it works intermittently but not all the time.

It will be very neat if I can get it going. I think maybe there is a problem with $REQUEST_URI when using index.php??

To test if you create an error404.php page i.e

$urlsite=$REQUEST_URI;
$user=explode("/",$urlsite);
$memb_id=$user[2];
$_SESSION['memb_id'] = $memb_id;
header("location: index.php");

then www.yoursite.com/10078

Hope that explains things

Thanks for any suggestions (polie though please!!)

Regards

Tony

Any ideas on the issue you were helping me with?

I've tried blowing away all related directories, and starting over, making sure to have correct chmod 777 on the directories needed (as shown in install) I still do not have access to anything after logging in. It's as if I do not have any authority - suggestions? Ideas? Anyone? Its a new database so I don't care what we have to do to fix this - Thanks -

If you want to review the url - www.lanwarriors.com

Thanks!

Rob Drescher Rob@drescher.org or rob@lanwarriors.com

Thanks again!

UPDATE! - I just tried the following:
used the url www.lanwarriors.com/modules/system/admin.php and it told me that I dont have access to this section..

I used the admin account created with the initial install for the database creation. IDEAS?
Thanks,

Sorry about that--got a little carried away. You are looking at the right place, but apparently you don't have a [edit description] link just to the right of the description (or where it would go) on your page.

Relevant lines in albums.php:
Line 164:

$desc editField($gallery->album"description"$edit);

Line 200:

$xoopsTpl->append('albums', array('image' => $image'owner_id' => $owner->uid'owner_name' => $owner->username'editlink' => $editlink'album_desc' => $desc'adminlink' => $adminlink'last_modified' => formatTimestamp($gallery->album->getLastModificationTime(), 'm'), 'num_photos' => $gallery->album->numPhotos(0), 'num_views' => $num_views'num_views_since' => $num_views_since'num_views_resetlink' => $num_views_resetlink'albumtree' => $album_tree));

Relevant line in xoopsgallery_index.html:
Line 26:
  <
td class="head"><{$lang_description}></td>
  <
td class="even"><{$album.album_desc}></td>

Note that as I drill down into the editField function there are checks in there for "can update album text"--if you have been changing permissions in XoopsGallery, I suppose you could have removed your rights from there. If the files look OK then check into that side (I only know it exists, I've never messed with the album permissions really).

Per-topic group permissions?

I've got a heavily modded XOOPS 2.0.3, which I hacked about to so that everything (eg xoopsgallery) works properly without register_globals, and so that stories can live in multiple topics.

The final hack I want in place before going live is to allow any given group to be able to create/edit articles in specific topics but no in others.

While I was browing xoopstopic.php, I found a bunch of references to XoopsPerm::getPermitted() and various other methods, referencing permissions like "ReadInTopic" and "SubmitInTopic".

This stuff looks like it does what I want - however, I can find no other references to XoopsPerms, either in my sources or in the CVS tree. It looks as if XoopsPerms maintains a database similar to xoops_group_permissions, but's that about as far as I've got.

Does the missing code exist anywhere, or am I going to have to implement it?

Good to see more help offer, more volunteers, etc.

Knight has volunteerd (does make sense as he started the thread). Work on it with what offer/help we have. The site can have links to other sites/services that are offered here (balance load such as forum, etc). We must try to be inclusive of other offers so that it is win/win.

I am willing to contribute financially to the yearly domain name (if we decide on a good name) and hosting fees if we settle on one in the future. Do not know much about *.my domains registration in malaysia.

Back to basic. Need to get to objectives and a team with a mision when the prototype site is ready for use.

Anyone have any other ideas? I still can not access any module when logging in. Only module available, is the user login module, no matter what url I use.

Any ideas?

Btw, this is the relevant block in xoopsgallery_index.html:

Quote:
<{foreach item=album from=$albums}>
<table width=100% border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=7>
<tr>
<td style="padding 10px;" width="<{$album.image.width}>" height="<{$album.image.height}>"><{$album.image.image}></a></td>
<td style="padding 10px;">
<div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: bold; padding: 5px;"><{$album.editlink}></div>
<table class="outer">
<tr>
<td class="head"><{$lang_description}></td>
<td class="even"><{$album.album_desc}></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="head"><{$lang_owner}></td><td class="even"><a href="<{$xoops_url}>/userinfo.php?uid=<{$album.owner_id}>"><{$album.owner_name}></a></td>
</tr>
<{if $album.adminlink == true}>
<tr><td class="head"><{$lang_administration}></td><td class="even"><{$album.adminlink}></td></tr>
<{/if}>
<tr>
<td class="head"><{$lang_lastupdate}></td><td class="even"><{$album.last_modified}></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="head"><{$lang_items}></td><td class="even"><{$album.num_photos}></td>
</tr>
<{if $album.num_views != ""}>
<tr>
<td class="head"><{$lang_views}></td><td class="even"><{$album.num_views}> (<{$album.num_views_since}>) <{$album.num_views_resetlink}></td>
</tr>
<{/if}>
<tr>
<td class="head"><{$lang_subalbums}></td><td class="even"><{$album.albumtree}></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<{/foreach}>
