Did you also make the change in your mainfile.php?

If your not comfortable doing that, maybe export the old table data using MySQL, do a clean install of xoops, and re-import the table data....that always works.

Don't want to use MySQL? try this module out instead...

open the php files of the pages/forms that you want to change, and look for the class and id definitions that are used.

For instance, in register.php the most common class used is; class=head

so, in your style sheet look for this line;

.head { background-color: #111111; padding: 3px;}

and thats how it works.

You can add different class's or id's to each section that you'd like to change, just make sure that you define them in the style sheet.

carnuke has a FAQ that explains a good way to find out exactly what class's and id's are being used for each page here;

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=178

Happy xoopsing!

I've tried all of the suggestions and only get errors and blank pages, and think that I am incorrectly editing the database.php file.

reynaldos edits return this (for me):
Quote:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CLASS, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/user/public_html/test1/class/database/database.php on line 134

Mikhails edits return this (for me):

My interpretation of the issue here is;

Like one of my sites having the same issue, we are using shared hosting, and do not have access to the setup variables, just basic DB administration; empty, drop, check , repair, etc. (this is my case, I am assuming that this is the same situation for the other people with the problem)

Leading us to: How does one do that, without access to the setup variables?

Is there a query that can be run that accomplishes the same thing?

I'm sort of stuck, and not too terribly interested in learning mySQL. The last time I uninstalled everything to 'start over', there were a couple of module folders and thumbnail folders that were created by the module install process that were owned by 'root', so I couldn't delete them. All I could do was rename the top folder in the tree, ensuring a fresh install.

Most of the feed back I am getting, and my personal experience with it has led me to drop it all together.

However, I was using godaddy as a host, but their hosting platforms, virtual and otherwise will not work with XOOPS. Don't get me wrong, you'll install it, try it out etc. and it will look great and funnction just fine until you want actual live internet users viewing it. They have their PHP locked in sage mode. Their mail server options are 'virtual' smtp hosts as well, and basically, your site will not fuinction or be able to send e-mail or anything. I'd reccomend NOT using them.

I went to findmyhosting.com and searched there for a host, and got a coupon for hosting at MyMarkdown.com.

It is apache based, has much more access and features than anything godaddy even has to offer.
I pay $7/month for 2500MB of space w/30GB a month of transfer. Unlimited pop emails, unlimited MySql data bases. It has ssl directories, and is working like a champ for me. No long term agreement...just month to month.

With the donation block set up on the site..it's basically free!

The default 'scripts' that are included in their control panel include phpNuke, phpBB, and cgi scripts till you die! just to name a few.

I've been happy with them, and it has been working well for the last 60 days for me.

Good luck with all of it, and let us know when your site goes live!
