Subject: International XOOPS Meetup Day

===8<==============Original message text===============
Hello,

This is Laura from Meetup. I wanted to let you know that your
Xoops topic is now live.

You can check it out, sign up and find details here:
*http://xoops.meetup.com/

It may have been several weeks since you submitted your
suggestion, and I apologize for the delay. There are currently
thousands of topics waiting for activation, and more submitted
every day. We are trying our best, so thanks for your patience.

Let's get this off to a great start! In our experience, we've
found two crucial elements for a successful Meetup.

1) Good Venues. We've tried to get the best possible venues,
but we're not perfect (yet). If you have any suggestions for
venues, you can submit them here:
*http://xoops.meetup.com/suggest/venue/

2) Bigger groups make better Meetups. Our users have told us
meeting 3 other people is great, and meeting 6 is even better
If you have a website, post a link about International XOOPS
Meetup Day. We made some links that you can find here:
*http://xoops.meetup.com/share/

Don't forget, Meetup+ members can nominate a venue directly
onto the ballot. They set agenda items and publish notebooks,
too. Meetup+ is a great way to contribute to your Meetup
community. Learn more here:
*http://xoops.meetup.com/plus/

If you know other XOOPS Users, you can invite them along here:
*http://xoops.meetup.com/tellfriends/

Finally, post to sites, lists, groups, and discussion boards so
other folks can find out about Meetup.

Please let me know of any questions, comments, or tips for us.
Thanks for the suggestion! Active users like you are helping
Meetup thrive.

Have a great Meetup!
Laura

jargon file for xoops...

test it here:
http://www.xoops.net.br/jargon.html

download it here:

and comment here:

What is Jargon File?

#======= THIS IS THE JARGON FILE, VERSION 4.2.0, 31 JAN 2000 =======#

This is the Jargon File, a comprehensive compendium of hacker slang illuminating many aspects of hackish tradition, folklore, and humor.

This document (the Jargon File) is in the public domain, to be freely used, shared, and modified. There are (by intention) no legal restraints on what you can do with it, but there are traditions about its proper use to which many hackers are quite strongly attached. Please extend the courtesy of proper citation when you quote the File, ideally with a version number, as it will change and grow over time. (Examples of appropriate citation form: "Jargon File 4.2.0" or "The on-line hacker Jargon File, version 4.2.0, 31 JAN 2000".)

The Jargon File is a common heritage of the hacker culture. Over the years a number of individuals have volunteered considerable time to maintaining the File and been recognized by the net at large as editors of it. Editorial responsibilities include: to collate contributions and suggestions from others; to seek out corroborating information; to cross-reference related entries; to keep the file in a consistent format; and to announce and distribute updated versions periodically. Current volunteer editors include:

International XOOPS Meetup (Real world, face-to-face, maybe over coffee or a beer)

Just an idea, ok?

http://xoops.meetup.com

---

What is a Meetup?

It's a local gathering of a group of people brought together by a common interest. Real world, face-to-face, maybe over coffee or a beer.

Where are Meetups?

Meetups happen in hundreds of cities around the world. At local cafés, bars, bowling alleys, donut shops, dog-friendly spots, videogame displays, and lots of other places. People vote on where their local Meetup will take place.

When are Meetups?

Most Meetups are weekday evenings or Saturdays. Meetups are on the same day everywhere. Most topics have a Meetup Day every month.
Does the Meetup happen over the Internet or in real life?

Real life, real local communities, real groups of people.

Is this free?

Yes, Meetup is a free service. Some venues pay Meetup to be listed and to help coordinate events. (Note: We NEVER force a Meetup to be at a particular venue. Meetups only happen at places that the people vote for.)
Do Meetups for a topic happen on the same day in every city?

Yes. This is one of the neatest things about Meetup. Of course, due to time zones, Meetups don't happen everywhere simultaneously, they simply happen at the stated time -- in the local time zone -- in each respective city.

Who leads the Meetup?

Nobody. Meetups are informal; it's peers talking to peers. Most Meetups do have volunteer hosts that help make things go smoothly, but think of it as a casual get-together, not an official meeting.

What is a host?

A host is a Meetup attendee just like you. The only difference is that they've agreed to help people find each other at the Meetup. They might have printed out a sign and put it on a tabletop. Perhaps they came bearing nametags and a magic marker. Hopefully they've let the venue's management know that you're all coming there to Meetup. We try to make it so every Meetup has a host - Why not be one yourself?

How can I be a good host?

Be at your hostly best! Here are some tips on how to be a superlative Meetup Host.

* Get there 5-10 minutes early and be on the lookout for people in your group.
* Let the bartender/host/manager of the Meetup venue know that you're there and that you expect X number of people to show up for the Meetup that you're hosting.
* Print out a copy of our nifty little Meetup sign, bring it with you and place it prominently on the table where you're sitting.
* Make sure people can find you! Wear something distinctive
* and related to the Meetup that you're hosting. Stick around! Not everyone is going to show up on the dot. Try to stay for a full hour after the start time to greet newcomers. Be proactive about introducing people to each other once they've arrived.
* If you think it'll work for your group, get some name tags from the local stationery store. Bring those along with a magic marker and have people fill out the tags when they arrive.

Where else can I find answers to my questions?

If we haven't answered your questions so far, there are a few things you can do:

* take a look at our other FAQs. They're listed on the left side on the top of this page.
* Visit our Discussion Boards. They're a great place to chat with other Meetup Members to learn from their experiences.
* If all else fails, send us an email.

OBS:
IS JUST AN EXPERIMENTAL HACK,
IT IS NOT THE IDEAL WAY TO DO A "XOOPS MULTISITE".

database.php
function prefix($tablename='') {
if (
$tablename == '' ) {
return
$this->prefix;
}
elseif (
$tablename == 'users' ) {
return
'same_users';
}
elseif (
$tablename == 'groups_users_link' ) {
return
'same_groups_users_link';
}
elseif (
$tablename == 'priv_msgs' ) {
return

}
elseif (
$tablename == 'session' ) {
return
'same_session';
}
else {
return
$this->prefix .'_'$tablename;
}
}

to use the same files with diferent sites/subdomains, just replace the mainfile.php for:
<?php
if (!(isset($subdominio))) {
$subdominio $HTTP_HOST;
$subdominio str_replace("www.","",$subdominio);
$subdominio str_replace(".com","",$subdominio);
$subdominio str_replace(".net","",$subdominio);
$subdominio str_replace(".org","",$subdominio);

if (!(empty(
$subdominio))) {
include(
$subdominio."mainfile.php");
}
