Im gunna start this module.

Milestone 1: just the profile page..

(more added later, i will keep it open)

Ability for user to create a new profile.
Admin can approve new profiles.
User can edit own profile page

There will be an index page listing all profiles.
(eventually made to handle more than 30)

Milestone 2: adding media and listening to it

Allow user to add mp3 to their profile.

When viewing the users profile page, it will allow you to select which track to hear, and utilize a FlashMX mp3 streamer to listen to it.

This will allow file uploads or http path

Track number
Track Name
short desc
actual file

Milestone 3: adding XOOPS comment system

Allowing other users to add comments to profile page.

Then once we reach this point, we can add all the other features that were needed from this phat thread ;)


This will allow me to think about one thing at a time.

I still want to code this module.

but the requirements list are a litlle different per person.


Is there a common list of requirements we can start with that will cover most peoples needs?

Specific features would then need to be added to the base.


What should the first milestone be? the easier it is the sooner it will happen.

count me in on coding this.

But I also got slightly different requirements from the original posters of this thread. (I was LavaBurst back in the beginning of this thread)


Lets boil it down so we can digest the features needed for the first milestone.

Looking at the modules date, my guess is it was for XOOPS 1.
This might explain why you are having troubles installin it into XOOPS 2.0.9

Even if its was for xoops2 it might be too old anyway to work with the new xoops.


I do know that ALOT of people are still looking for this solution for paid memberships, which tells me there isnt one publicly available yet.

I dont think there is a built in way to set a default page in admin...

But a solution could be that you link directly to the modules admin page.


After loggin in, im not sure if it will go there, but it might. could be tested.

Thats usually caused when the module isnt installed under the right directory.

When unzipping a module, it might be 2 dirs down which is the directory that needs to be uploaded to /modules

so if its called Atutor... it might be installed as:

/modules/atutor/atutor

but needs to be:

/modules/atutor

Im not aware of a module that exists for this yet.

Would be a fun one to develop tho.


What are the legals of posting lyrics?

Ive thought about running a lyric database, did some research, and have seen alot of sites get popped for copyright infringement or the like.


Is it required to get permission to list some music companies lyrics? or can it be transcribed without problems?

well i just tried a search for 'membership' and nothing came up in the module repository... any way you can provide a link to it? I was gunna install it and see if i can find a fix.

I dont think its possible with the default XOOPS user profiles.

At the bottom it only lists content the user has submitted in various modules.

Good idea tho. And it can be done if you extend it with another custom module with comments integrated in.

Hope you can find a solution.

Im not aware of one that already exists.

It would be a fun module to develop.

I would use Flash MX in a block to do this, along with the jukebox module itself.

You would be able to add new wav or mp3 files and users could then select which ones to hear.

Also, like most jukeboxes, it might play a random tune.

Letting users start and stop the audio, i think everyone would agree, this is a minimum requirement.


So here is the requirements list so far:
---------------------------------------

XOOPS JukeBox module
-Admin to edit the playlist
-Admin to upload new audio files
-Admin: approve new audio files submitted

-Block to deliver the Flash Player

-Users: possibly submit new audio files
-Users: Can press start to hear music
-Users: Can press stop to mute music
-Users: Can press pause

-Users: Can select random or a specific track


any other requirements to make a good jukebox module?
