This is terrible and I'm very sorry for your loss.

I've never run this script but think I'm going to install it right now. It's Xoops Protector and is available in the Module Repository under the security link. There's been lots of good stuff posted about this module in the support forums.

Good luck, and hope you get everything back to normal.

Hi Rob, and welcome to Xoops.

Is there an easy way to stretch a theme (or is it called style?).

There is a way to make themes span the entire screen. Our themes are designed using style sheets. Try taking a look at some of the themes in the Themes Library on the community menu. You could really spend a full morning looking at all the themes in there.

Hope this helps, and welcome to Xoops.

Greetings, fkpress, and Welcome to Xoops.

Perhaps it's just me, but it's hard to imagine how you will be sending out e-cards without drawing on some sort of picture gallery. I can understand the reluctance towards managing a picture gallary, as it could become quite a time consuming ordeal. However, what I'm doing with one of my XOOPS sites is kinda stepping out on faith that the "registered" users will behave themselves and not put objectionable material on the site. Getting an authenticated email address is no driver's license, or Social Security number, but it's about the best we can do to ensure that the users that submit photos/comments/articles, or whatever are accountable. Judging from the bredth and diversity of XOOPS sites I'd have to say that requiring contributors and users to register before submitting content (pictures or anything else that could be presented to the public) is a system that works.

By their very nature e-cards are going to need a source of artwork, or some kind of graphic/picture library to draw upon. So if you don't have personal photos, what will you use?

Perhaps what you're looking for is a custom module that a person could fill out a form and include a picture of him/her self from their local hard drive. But then, that wouldn't really be a community website function. Possibly that would be more of a "friend finder" or dating type service and plenty has been written on how to do that with Xoops.

My friend at Mad Cycles is using xcgallery, and it has a really nice e-card system built into it, and his site's images are almost completely website visitor submitted. (what a relief for the webmaster!) Beats the heck out of scanning and sizing images. Let the users of the website do the work!

I really like the one (on the madcycles.us site) where they're having the toga party. Man, wish I'd a been there for that party!

Cheers , and again, Welcome to Xoops.

That's a really good question. If you truely want to know, I'd be happy to "block" your ip from a development site I'm working on, then unblock you after we see the results... so you can see first hand, but that would take a little arranging.

Would be kinda kewl to see though...

When you get an hour or so with the keyboard PM me... We could try it out..

Seems to me that in your admin panel under System Admin --> Preferences --> General Settings --> Module for your Start Page set to the FAQ module, or possibly no module selected at all.

Try setting that to a module like New's and populate the news module with a small article announcing your site. Things may fall into place for you then..

Also, remember to set the Group permissions for anonymous users, otherwise they won't be able to see all your hard work.

Gotta tell ya, I'm proud to say I got way more than I bargained for on this question. I thought this would be a simple question and to my delight this has become an educational experience.

Must ask though, is the subject of a text tag for images that can be a field in the image manager something that's on the drawing board? I have to believe that this has come up before.

This whole subject came up because I was thinking of how to optimize images for search engines. The way I've always done that in the past is with the ALT tag, and it has worked well for me. I've got several images in the Yahoo! image gallery that drive hits to my [static] websites almost daily.

Just discovered this morning that I have a site that can't deliver RSS feeds.

The exact error message is:

Quote:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://triangle-computer.com/backend.php'.

Looking at the error I'm wondering if it's a problem with the theme?

The site is Triangle-Computer.com.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Actually, all I was after was a way to have text appear if someone hovers their mouse over an image... The ALT tag seems to do that just fine with Internet Explorer.

Ouch, I don't have to like it, but that's good to know. And thanks, Carnuke, on the Title vs ALT tag tip. I didn't know about that.

Is there a way to add an ALT tag to images stored with the image manager?
