Greetings, fkpress, and Welcome to Xoops.

Perhaps it's just me, but it's hard to imagine how you will be sending out e-cards without drawing on some sort of picture gallery. I can understand the reluctance towards managing a picture gallary, as it could become quite a time consuming ordeal. However, what I'm doing with one of my XOOPS sites is kinda stepping out on faith that the "registered" users will behave themselves and not put objectionable material on the site. Getting an authenticated email address is no driver's license, or Social Security number, but it's about the best we can do to ensure that the users that submit photos/comments/articles, or whatever are accountable. Judging from the bredth and diversity of XOOPS sites I'd have to say that requiring contributors and users to register before submitting content (pictures or anything else that could be presented to the public) is a system that works.

By their very nature e-cards are going to need a source of artwork, or some kind of graphic/picture library to draw upon. So if you don't have personal photos, what will you use?

Perhaps what you're looking for is a custom module that a person could fill out a form and include a picture of him/her self from their local hard drive. But then, that wouldn't really be a community website function. Possibly that would be more of a "friend finder" or dating type service and plenty has been written on how to do that with Xoops.

My friend at Mad Cycles is using xcgallery, and it has a really nice e-card system built into it, and his site's images are almost completely website visitor submitted. (what a relief for the webmaster!) Beats the heck out of scanning and sizing images. Let the users of the website do the work!

I really like the one (on the madcycles.us site) where they're having the toga party. Man, wish I'd a been there for that party!

Cheers , and again, Welcome to Xoops.
