I have noticed on some XOOPS sites that there is a 'read more' link underneath news items so when clicked it brings up the full story.

I would like to be able to do this on my XOOPS site as at the moment my news items are displayed in full and some of them are rather long and the News module is my main page visitors first see, so I would like the news item heading and then a short description of the story and then the 'read more' link to bring up the full story.

Is there a way of doing this in admin panel or news module? or is this a differnet news module these other sites are using?

Anyhelp would be great. Thankyou

MartyBoy.

Hi, I have just installed XOOPS and after going through it all I am slowly gettting the hang of it. There is a couple of things though I would like to be able to do i have tried searching but I cant seem to find anything relevent to my questions so here goes...

1. I have installed a new theme(4metal) and I would like to remove the links below the logo you know join, forums, etc. Is this possible? if so which file do I have to edit or can I do it through admin?

2.Is it possible to change the links on the main menu to link to somewhere else? for example i have phpbb installed so I would like to have the 'forum' link, link to my phpbb page, i assume i can edit a php file within XOOPS but I am not sure which one.

Any help would be greatlfully appreciated, Thankyou.

Hello, I am very new to PHP, I currently build and edit my website using an online editor provided by my host. I am wanting to change webhosts and I can install XOOPS and other scripts through cpanel with this new host, I was just wondering if I could build an entire site using just XOOPS alone or do I have to have another application such as Dreamweaver also.

The site wouldnt be majorly complex jsut consist of news, downloads, a forum, and other information pages on my favourite entertainer its a fansite type of thing.

I would also like to know if XOOPS is fairly simple for the novice such as my self as I would like to get my site up and running within a week.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thankyou
