MYalbum 2.9

Having posted a similar question earlier with no responses, I'll try again. I am using MyAlbum to allow upload of .pdf files. problem is that the thumbnail is the same of course for every one of them.

This doesn't give the best appearance to the site. I would like to be able to display the first page of the .pdf automatically or at least be able to upload an alternate image to act as the thumbnail.

This could be a paid project for someone. I have no idea of the potential cost, so PM me if you are interested or have any suggestions you don't want to post for everyone to see.

That's a good suggestion. My question now becomes, where would I perform those edits and what would they actually look like.

Unfortunately I don't have the skills to put that plan into action.

I can follow directions quite well. This would seem to be something that a lot of users would benefit from.

I don't know a single person who only has one e-mail address any more.

So any further ideas or instructions would be great to get.

MYalbum 2.9

I am using Myalbum 2.9 with XOOPS 2.2.4. to store pdf files.

Ideally the module could grab the thumbnail from the title page of the .pdf.

If that is not easily accomplished, I would like the option of creating the thumbnail myself so that I could do that and then upload the thumbnail with the .pdf document.

If there is a way to do this already, I would like to know that .

If not, perhaps one of the capable people reading this can give a solution.

I expect it is well beyond my current skill level to accomplish on my own.

Re: Help making a basic change to link in MyAlbum 2.9

Method 1 applied to main.php did it.

Thank you very much.

Help making a basic change to link in MyAlbum 2.9

I have a simple request to change a link in MyAlbum. The link on the main page says "add photo". I am using this module to store files that are not photos and want the link to simply say "add file".

Clearly I am missing an important piece of how to do this and would appreciate some guidance.

I have cloned the template set and found the following code in the myalbum_index.html page:

<{if $lang_add_photo}><a href="submit.php"><{$lang_add_photo}><img src="<{$mod_url}>/images/pictadd.gif" border="0" alt="<{$lang_add_photo}>" title="<{$lang_add_photo}>" /></a><{/if}>

Since I am not a programmer, I am guessing that there is something really really basic that I am missing. Changing "photo" to "file" in the code above breaks the link or makes it disappear.

Do I have to change something in the database?

Welcome to XOOPS.

You are right where I was about a year ago and I can tell you that some of the relationships are tough to understand. If you figure out the difference between themes and templates, you will be doing well.

In answer to your questions, I suggest that you look around and find a theme that you like. Then fiddle with it to make it your own. Remember to give credit where credit is due to the original tehme creator.

I would suggest that as a first step to creating your own theme. The menu bar that you want may already exist in a theme and you can just change the colour scheme and links to your own.

Allowing multiple e-mail addresses per member

I would like to know if there is a way to allow users to have more than one e-mail address.

I have users who would like to receive notifications at both home and work e-mail.

Any suggestions?

I am using 2.2.4.

Re: Multiple sites, one shared hosting plan???

Thanks for the info. In fact that is what I had done but still I ended up with the oldsite.com/newsite in the address.

I can't explain why it is happening, but I have figured the problem. Maybe this will help someone else.

My main site is not an issue.

When I added a domain and then used the Canaca Software service to install XOOPS, I ended up with mainsite.com/newsite in the address.

I manually copied the same files to a different "Add on domain" and did not get the same issue with the address.

Perhaps someone has an explanation. For now, I have found a solution, and that is for me to upload the files manually rather than have Canaca do the install automatically.

This is no slight against Canaca by the way, I am pleased with their service and price.

Re: Multiple sites, one shared hosting plan???

I am facing this same issue. Has there been a solution found, posted?

I am also with Canaca and while I don't control their servers, I have access to the root folders of all of my sites.

I've tried that, but it doesn't react the same way. Sure you can see it, but notifications don't go to that address as well.
