Hello reifsnyderb,

I have been using this mod version 1.91 for about two years and is still working fine under Xoops 2.4.4. One feature I couldnt get to work is to enable to document search using swish-e script to be able to search the content of documents which is quite vital these days. I have been looking at other software available. I Have created an intranet based on Xoops since 2009 and is still working.

But like most if not all Xoops mods, the maintenance or development is a major concern thus I tend not to push and apply upgrades or Xoops core and other mods, since I am afraid things will be broken up. I however keep testing before implementing and welcome new xoops development. I have also commented on this mods so if you can search xoops site you can read them and have other suggestions if you plan to continue.

Finally it seems that we realize the need to for such a module for Xoops. I think this type of module should be one of the forefront initiatives to try to complete. There were two other social like modules but have been abandoned. I am willing to test and give feedback on this mod.

The key is that all site content needs to be social in order to gain user base and increase site visitors in this day and age. Needless to say facebook has capitalized well on this area.

I hope this can reach production state in the near future.

I will test then have some feedback also.

Hi Dedale,

Thanks for the response. Would it be possible to change the blocks options from drop down list to a select/combo box, the idea is to be able to select preferred categories for display instead of displaying all categories or just a category at a time.

The new release is rocking briefly tested out. I like the mouse over. and color, probably in admin it should be optional on what I posted herehttps://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6119

I get following on the calendar but I think it's minor stuff.

SSC Meeting
_APCAL_BEGIN: Oct 18th AM 10:00
_APCAL_END: Oct 18th PM 6:00


_APCAL_CLICKFORDETAILS


and noticed that when the calendar loads the details are displayed, shouldnt the case be that when you mouse over the details are displayed or maybe it should be chose at the module admin.

Xoops Search needs revisit

Talking about search in Xoops it think that feature needs to be revisited. Their is a need to have the ability configure it from the admin area to be able to have blocks that have more options for the admin to configure. Admin might have ti need to have allow only certain modules to be queried in a search as well as the results display order and style. Maybe an existing search module can be adopted as part of xoops dafult modules. Search fecilities certainly make like much easier when locating information, especially when sites grow large.

my taughts on this, probably someone else can elaborate on this.

I suggest that their is a need to efficiently manage the posting of modules releases within the Xoops site its hard to keep track for existing users and even difficult for new comers to find out modules, its time consuming. maybe a mod needs to be developed for this purpose, I see other CMSs already have such a system in place, why not implement it in Xoops.
