you can't use smarty variables in custom blocks. There are site info blocks that show this kind of information.

Even if I write a php page to insert in a custom block that includes the files where the variables are defined?

I've posted in a couple of posts on beginners forum but nobody seems to be able to help me...

What I have to do to show the total number of members of the site?
Not only the number of members... also all the other smarty variables.
Thanks

Where are smarty variables saved? Is there a directory where I can found all the files where they are saved?

Make a cutom block and insert it.

Example:

<Custom block>

Total members
<{$lang_totalusers}>

</Custom block>

Note: Make custom block in admin area.

I tried this but the block I have obtained is like this:
Total members:
<{$lang_totalusers}>

It doesn't print the variable value but the text... what I have to do?!

I'm trying to modify a system block. I have add a string ("hello") in the template system_block_online.html for test but nothing appears when I check the block.
What I have to do?
