Don't delete the index.html file.

And I have found that WSFTP is buggy, so I switched. I now use SmartFTP, best FTP utility out there, IMHO:

In short....yes. You can do all of that. The XOOPS Groups admin is flexible and powerful. You can create an unlimited number of groups, and assign specific permissions to all of them.

Adding static HTML is possible via 3rd party Modules (like Tiny Content) as well, but static pages don't register in the database, so you lose many of the features provided by using dynamic content. For example, it will not show up in search results.

If users will contribute articles, they could use an article module like WfSections, or AMS to subit said article, using HTML (if you allow them), or XOOPS code (just like BBcode) to format, hyperlink, and insert images. That way, you can still have all article register with the database, yet still be very simple to write.

You can even use one of the menu modules (like Content) to add links to specific articles or pages within xoops, or anywhere on the net really, within the main menu, or you can even add additional menu blocks with the article link.

Really, you can do ANYTHING with XOOPS you need. But in some cases, (usually in depth, very unusual stuff) it may take some hacking. The whole core is very intuitive, so if you take the time to REALLY learn Xoops, the sky is the limit.

And lastly, you will find the XOOPS community to be one of the largest, most helpful and friendly communities out there. If you ever have a question/issue, come to the XOOPS site here, and generally, you will find your issue/problem has already been addressed, and if not, a simple post here will help you figure it out 99% of the time from my experience.

Hope you get started using XOOPS soon, it truly is the best CMS out there, hands down.

I have been using Liasie on my site for a while now, with no issue. Now, for apparently no reason, whenever a user views a form, it only shows the last field of the form, repeated like 30 times, making the form unusable. Does anyone have a clue as to how I might fix this?

I am using XOOPS 2.0.13.2, btw

I am trying to find a way to have a small audio clip play when the home page loads. I have treied using HTML tags, but all of them only work in IE. I know you can do this with flash, but I am still learning flash. So...is there any XOOPS solution? a hack or module that might make it work? I am using the debaser module, with the "popular file" block. It seems there should be a simple hack that would make the file play when the page loads, but I can't figure it out.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Seems a simple fix would be to keep track of all of the changed files in the heirarchy they go in xoops, and keep a local copy for each theme. So the themes would each be uploaded to the root, and not the themes folder. I do it this way. So istead of having a folder called "mytheme" that you upload to the themes folder, you have a folder called "mytheme" with all of the altered files within their respective folders in it, inluding a "themes/mytheme" folder for the actual theme. Then you would just upload the contents of the folder(not the folder) to your XOOPS root. From there you only have to choose the theme, and refresh all of the modules with altered pages along with refreshing the System module.

I hope there will be a simpler way soon, but I haven't found one yet, and this seems to work fine for me.

WORD!

That fixed it. Altho I was only able to upgrade to 2.0.13, as there seems to be something wrong with the 2.0.13.1 upgade patch. It doesn't downlod like normal, and after I finally got it, it wouldn't extract. But no matter, 2.0.13 seems to work fine. Thanx again!

Thanks!

Actually, right after my last post I figured it out.

I have the blocks set to diplay, but they don't show in the Smarty debug info. So it's like they aren't there, even tho I have them set to show.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, it's a different site, it's my beta testing site, which requires login.

And I am not sure where to view Smarty debug info. I am still new to the "Smarty" concept.
