Similarly, I cannot figure out how to link to a custom avatar or upload a user custom avatar.

I'm rather fond of the ezSQL class library:

justinvincent.com

There's even a great tutorial on how (and why) he designed it, and his documentation is fantastic.

Don't get caught with this in the UK:

"British Telecom recently informed Sun of our infringement on their trademark of "Yellow Pages". To protect a trademark that they have invested in quite heavily, BT asked Sun to find a new name and to cease using "Yellow Pages" as soon as possible. As an aside, AT&T at one time did own the "Yellow Pages" trademark in the US, but because they did not take the necessary steps to protect it, it is now considered part of the common language (in the US only).

The replacement name for "Yellow Pages" and "YP" is "Network Information Service" and "NIS", respectively."

Why does the link requre pop-ups enabled? I don't do popups. I'm developing my own recipe exchange module, and while I was interested in seeing how this one works there's no way I'll enable popups just for that. And for privacy and security I never use my real personal info for online registration, so that won't do anybody any good anyway. I'm not going to jump through hoops just to LOOK at supposedly open-source projects. Sorry.

I can help, as long as your code is not commented in Japanese! I have been modifying the PiCal module and the Japanese comments are really a problem, since it takes me forever to figure out what the code is doing, while a comment that I could read would make all clear instantly. I have been working on porting another recipe exchange script into a XOOPS module, but if this is already started it would be easier for me to just work with it. I'll go look for it on Sourcrforge and see what's there. I'm running XOOPS locally for development, so it's no problem for me to try things out.

Ok...got it. And the puppy hasn't peed on the floor for three days! Simple module with forms tutorial is in the Wikki. That was fun. Turned out my code was fine from the beginning, I just didn't know how to refresh the module properly, and had a typo in an embarrassing place. Now to go for the recipe exchange module.

Greetings!

I just put a tutorial in the Wikki for creating a module with a form. I have made a correction to the applicable file. Could someone check it for me please and make sure I got it right?

Is this documented? I would also like to know more about it.

In that case, since I'm not working at the moment (except to take the puppy out enough so she doesn't pee on the floor), maybe I'll actually get mine done first! Although I still have to figure out how to print out a &%^^&* form! The backend logic is a piece of cake. I can do it fine without using Smarty, but I'm patient (or stubborn) and will do it properly or not at all. I requested an account in the Sourceforge forums, I suppose I'll hear from them eventually.

I had a similar idea, only I am trying to make a recipe exchange module. I've done corporate in-house documentation and tutorials and online programming lessons before, but I'm new to Xoops. The kickstart "greeter" module was fine, and I've managed to modify a few module themes to please myself, but now I'm totally stuck on getting a simple form to work from scratch, using "contact" as my model. I can display the form, per the wiki documentation, but can't seem to get it to pass through Smarty as "contact" does. I'm trying to learn to walk before I try to run, and so far I'm not even crawling - but then I only heard of XOOPS for the first time a few days ago. I will be following your tutorial with great interest.

As soon as I figure out how to get forms to work in a simple demo module I'll write up a basic tutorial similar to the "greeter" module.
