Not there even in Webmaster view -- which leads me to suspect I have something misconfigured:

Well, yeah, but so are Headlines, Downloads, and Web Links. So it might be more precise for me to ask how to treat, say, "recent news" as a block rather than all news.

Nonononono...

I want to set the Top Page default MODULE TYPE to NONE -- then mix and match blocks of different types on the top page. Part of the prob is that News does not even show as an option in the list of available block types under System Admin > Blocks.

I have my top page module set to none -- but under my Blocks list I see no News row or any way to include a News block in the top page in this scenario. Sure I'm doing something stupid, but can't figure out what. Group permissions look OK, and news module is enabled.

Help!!

Can anyone tell me how to go about embedding something like X_SITEURL in a multiMenu link? I will me moving a site to a new directory structure soon and want to avoid having to change a bunch of hardcoded stuff. I've tried the following already with no luck (gets passed through literally to the browser):

{X_SITEURL}
<{$xoops_url}>
<?php global $xoops_url; echo $xoops_url; ?>

Has anyone worked with a decent "directory module". Something that would work like this: Say you have a XOOPS site for a set of towns in a region, and each town has its own lists of schools, govt offices, etc. I want to define a category for each town, and a subcategory for each content type therein. Sorta like Web Links but with the URL optional (in other words, the focus is on the descriptive data (address, phone, etc.) rather than the url.

Seems like something like this should be relatively easy to put together, but before I do I wanted to check to see if someone already has one available.

Is it possible in any way to display the channel title rather than "WF-Channel" in the browser title bar? If so, how?

Ownership of uploaded files

I've noted that files uploaded with Image Manager are owned by the Web server user (www) with permissions set to "-rw-r--r--". Since this is not on my hosting provider's server, I am unable to further manipulate these files -- for example:

-rw-r--r-- 1 www www 1272 Dec 29 23:21 img3ff0fd56b0bff.png

Is there a way to tweak the admin module so this doesn't happen?

(Note - This is a different prob -- different XOOPS site -- that the issue with file perms getting set to --w----r-T )

Moved my Xoops, then "--w----r-T"

I just relocated my XOOPS installation one level up in my web tree (from /xoops/ to /). I think I made all the appropriate adjustments, but now when I upload images using image manager, all images end up owned by www (the apache uid) and with attribs set to --w----r-T.

Any idea what I'm missing??

Thanks Don -- I fixed those a few minutes ago... Others things still broken or unfinished as well (I haven't publicized the site outside the XOOPS forum).

Thanks for the suggestion on XOOPS vars.

Dan
