thanks for the advice, but a few questions...

what effect will this have on the session idle timeout? what will it be set to now that my value of 240 is being ignored?

Also, what is the advantage of customizing the session in the first place?

OK, well my XOOPS settings are currently as follows:

Use custom sessionYES
Session name
hififorum_session
Session expiration
240

Surely these settings are system-wide - why should the forum have a shorter session timeout, when the XOOPS site-wide timeout is set to 240 minutes?

i'm confused...

Hi,

one or two of my users athttp://www.hififorum.co.uk are complaining that they get logged out when they take too long to reply to a topic. Here's what apparently happens...

Quote:
What happens is I type forever and then click on "Submit".

What comes back is the "Preview" view (formatted post PLUS input box) with a nasty "Pink Banner" across the top admonishing me for taking too long and telling me to "Save" my message from the Input Box and then try to re-submit or else log back in again and re-post.

If I try the "Submit" again, I get a small dialogue box popped with a prompt to the effect "Enter e-mail address" and by then my blood pressure has reached dangerous levels, so I either return to "Home" and log in again or, if my mood is not that good, I click on the little white "X" in the red box in the top right-hand corner and go find another forum that's not so frustrating...

My XOOPS session timeout is set to 240 minutes, but this apparently happens after around 30 minutes, if not less.

Is this a bug? Is there a setting somewhere that i have not yet found that fixes this?

Thanks in advance, people!

Hi all,

My forum (http://www.hififorum.co.uk/ ) currently has the "Transfer" link at the bottom of each post, but i notice on the XoopsForge site it has the much simpler "Toolkit, PDF, Bookmark, print" options etc...

How do i enable those? I'm running 3.08 if it helps...

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

On my 3.08 forum (http://www.hififorum.co.uk ), users need to be able to delete their own posts.

Is this possible?

I assume it is, because at the bottom of each forum page it states "You cannot delete your posts." so this must mean there's an option to enable it somewhere?

Thanks in advance, people!

Hello,

On myhttp://www.hififorum.co.uk/register.php page, the "Receive occasional email notices from administrators and moderators?" option has "No" selected by default.

I have taken a look through the options, and source code, but i cannot figure out how to make it say "Yes" by default.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

Thanks in advance!

ok, i've tried the $xoopsOption approach, and it has made no difference to the page whatsoever... any idea why?

ok, i know it's not that complex, but i don't have the time at the moment to start fiddling around with it.

Also, the side block is not faulty, it's because of this:

fishspon wrote:
in order to get the right-hand side bar to appear on my custom page, i have to enable each of the right-hand blocks for "All Pages".

BUT, the problem is that once i do that, they appear on pages i don't want them to.

So, is there a way to exclude certain modules from a block's display properties, instead of include certain modules?

In other words, i want everything *except* the forum, but the only way to do that currently is to select "Top Page", "Contact Us", "Web Links", "News", "Members" etc... which then excludes my custom pages.

I now know that this can be solved by creating a module, but at the moment, today, i can't be arsed! lol

As i said though... i will tackle this when i have more time, because until you've done it once, it's *not* simple.

thanks for all the help, people, but all this just to get the right-hand side bar to appear?

i think not... at least not for the moment.

i might come back to this at some point, but for now it's just too much work for one single page!
