Have you read the install guide?

We'll need a little more info, but I can suggest two courses of action;

1 - Turn on PHP debugging in the system admin section of your site and post back any errors you're getting. Hopefully someone can help you from that.

2 - If problem rectification is urgent, I assume you made a backup prior to installing Catzwolf's new downloads module as it is only in it's release candidate stage. Roll back to your backup and continue on using the standard MyDownloads module until the new MyDownloads module has matured a little.

Koudanshi is the author of the IPB module for Xoops, so I'd advise perhaps asking him over at www.bbpixel.com if you haven't done so already.

I'd suggest double checking permissions.

I found this in 2.0.4 as well. What I did to fix it was goto sys admin -> preferences -> general settings and set "Default Comment Display Mode" to flat.

Nice work slammer,

You might what to play with the width settings in your css file. IE 5.X is a dog of a browser, and div setting of 100% cause layout issues. I found in most cases just changing this 100% to 99.99% was enough. Good luck !

What server hardware do you have? My server is only a PIII 550 and it's able to process 90 queries in about 1.1 seconds. Idealy your server should complete it's processing in under .5 of a second for each site load.

I don't think it's your theme causing your slow loading times. From what I've found, XOOPS site load times come back to three main factors;

1 - Fast & fat connection to Internet with an ISP hooked directly into the main Internet backbone.

2 - Fast server to serve web server, process PHP scripts and do requested queries on your MySQL database.

3 - Streamline the amount of content/images loaded on site as much as possible. From what I saw of your site there were probably 10 or so images on the main screen, of which some where quite hefty in size.

I've been having the same problem on my site to a lesser extent, and have so far things seem to be pointing toward a server upgrade. My suggestion would be to go into system admin -> preferences -> general preferences and enable Block/MySQL debugging and just see exactly how many queries are being run on your server on each site load, and also what the execution time is.

Banner management request for Xoops 2.1.0

Hi All,

Just wondering if it would be possible to have two seperate banner tags for the next major release of Xoops? I don't see myself ever needing any kind of serious banner management, as otherwise I'd just use phpadsnew. I think the banner management in XOOPS currently would be ideal if I was able to differentiate between horizonatally and vertically aligned ads. Perhaps have a <{$xoops_banner_hor}> smarty tag for horizontal aligned banners such as the default XOOPS banners, and a <{$xoops_banner_vert}> for banners that are vertically aligned for inclusion in the left and right columns.

What do you think?

I'm very eager to hear details of the 2.1.0 release too. From the bits and pieces I've read here and there it seems like 2.1.0 is going to be a fairly major step forward. A couple of the bigger features I'm looking forward to are is the inclusion of wf-section to replace the current sections module, a more feature rich NewBB and a large increase in the use of the group permissions within modules themselves, not just at module level as they are now.
