Re: major problem after moving files

did you mean to delete all files in the template c include index.html?

also what cache are you referring to? there is no cache folder in the /var/apache2-default section.

Also for when I install next time is there a way that when users log in it wont show apache2-default, can I just have the www.fqdn.net/*

major problem after moving files

I tried to move all of the xoop files from /html/* to the apache2-default folder so that people didn't need to type in www.fqdn.net/html/*

copying them across meant that a number of modules didn't work.

I copied them back to the html folder but now the banners dont work properly and I cant get into the admin section (when I do it says this is you first time visiting click here and then loops again).

Do I need to reinstall from scratch??

Re:Re: W2K +IIS +MS Proxy Standalone server Solution

DonXoop,
happy to have your advice and wisdom about how you can solve my problem.

as stated I have a sbs2003 server fronting my lan with a linux apache server running XOOPS on an intenal ip address.

How do I get sbs 2003 to direct traffic to this internal ip address.

*cant use port redirection because the XOOPS modules dont work.

*cant use host header because this is a redirection not forward (eg redirects external users to look on their own lan for the internal ip address)

*cant forward to a windows share because it is a linux server (could of course run a winxp web server).

looking forward eagerly to your instructions.

Dean

Re: port redirection?

I'm sorry you say Xoops/Apache should work work if configured right but I'm asking here "What it is I need to configure?"

As stated all I changed was the apache setting from 80 to 81.

The external users are accessing from port 81 because the internet names server (No-ip.com) are directing them to port 81 in the first palce and the SBS 2003 server is directing all port 81 traffic to a particular internal ip address.

the problems were urls for banners and the photos for gallery (I didn't check all however when I saw these two things were faulty).

Re: How to change site Directories?

I'm sorry I'm not experienced enough to understand what you wrote there.

Can anyone provide me a more easy explanation of what I need to do to move the files?

It has only been an internal trial so far, so no one has links etc but it would be very dissapointing if I had to start from scratch again just to move directories.

Thanks,
Dean

Re: How to change site Directories?

I wans't sure how to clear cache (I assume you mean just press refresh on browser) but I followed your instructions in everything else.

when I try to log in it works finr for browsing the web but when I log into the admin section it displays

"This is your first time to enter the administration section. Press the button below to proceed."

and then just loops regardless of pressing the button or cancel.

Any advice?

Dean

port redirection?

I posted this in the Q&A section but after 40 views I didn't get an answer so thought I would post here instead.

hi all,
Just a quick question, I need to run my linux server on port 81.

apart from changing the listening port on apache2 is there anything else I need to do?

as the photos in the default format aren't working.

Re:Re: W2K +IIS +MS Proxy Standalone server Solution

I have/had a bigger problem in that I wanted to run XOOPS on a standalone Linux server on my lan behind a SBS 2003 server.

the only problem was I couldn't access the site from external of the lan (internal was fine).

Just a not for the records, port redirection wont work to an internal linux server.

The solution that I will be inmplementing but not yet installed is to download SBS 2003 SP1 which has ISA 2004, from here you can redirect to an internal server, just thought some other people might find this useful and save them time.

RSS automatic click through?

Firstly, just wanted to say what an amazing product XOOPS is, I was messing around with 2 others for a week before I came across this and in the last 48 hours you've made my life 10x easier.

anyway my question is this.

I have a rss feed on display on the front page.

When I click on 1 of the 5 links it opens up the headlines page, I need to click on the link again in order to make it open the external web site.

Is there a way I can make the click on the front page automatically open the external site or am i missundretsnading how rss works?

Cheers;

Dean
