I think this is the problem, a lot of user stands in front of them. If u are using the new firefox, this can be the answer.

Here the mimetypes the did work on my and i think on the most websites:

application/pdf application/acrobat application/x-pdf applications/vnd.pdf text/pdf application/octet-stream

The last entry is important when the firefox is the problem! The difference is, that the firefox users did not see the mimetype icon for PDF, but it works!?

This means u must change the fileattribute to 444 (do it quickly). Normally we say chmod, login ftp to your server, in the most ftp programs click the files with the right mousebutton and now change the attribute to 444. Near the mainfile.php u must give the follow folder chmod 777.

- cache
- templates_c
- uploads

Did you set the permission, that user can edit their own news? The option did you find under administration->preferences and

Enable authors to edit their post ?

With this option, authors can edit their posts.

Hope thats it!?

Seems to be a analog problem i have some times ago. Is your PHP Version 5.x? Then you must modify one or more files. I have trouble with the cbb at this moment when i change from PHP 4.x to PHP 5.x. I fit the global.php in the language folder.

You must change first the limit at the serverconfiguration!

upload_max_filesize set to 8,16 or more MB

Sch... frankblack! Ich kann nicht verstehen, was manche Idioten davon haben. Ich beneide dich nicht um die Arbeit die jetzt auf euch Admins zukommt. Beste Grüsse und Kopf hoch Joe - jcweb alias no_face

I am still searching for the backdoor. What he/they changed was adding two custom blocks, changed the admin password and email and deleted the primary key for the user-table.

Meanwhile I closed the site until I know how the intruder came into Xoops.

Sad day for me!

I have a installation in german language, so i can not tell you the exactly name of the option. When u change/edit something, you must set the point by e.g. "Version change" or "Edit" etc. and then submit.

If you do not set the point by one of these options the article did not change!

Thats all!

Bye Andy
