I probably should've been more specific.

There is a line: $xoopsConfig['startpage']

How do I define startpage variable?

My polls block disappeared.

Here is what I checked:
Blocks administration: Visible, right side, order: 1
Groups (webmasters): Module admin rights: checked, Module access rights: checked, Blocks access rights (on the right side): checked.
Modules administration: Active: checked, Order: 1.
Polls block: the poll is active, expiration date is 2004-07-25 23:17:12, display in block: checked, display order: 1.

(current date on the machine is 2004-07-13 15:52:16)

Yes, I am webmaster on the site

The block was visible for about 2-3 weeks, people voted and all, so it is not my imagination.

I tried deleting everything in templates_c, updating the module, moving the location on the page of the block, nothing.

It is invisible.

I turned on block debugging, didn't find any reference to polls block.

What do I miss?

The site is dune.servint.com/newsite/html/index.php

Someone mentioned the the password should be encrypted.
In the first line of the code, do I have to encrypt the password, or do I insert it as it is?

A little introduction.

My site is a site of MUD called DuneMUD (how's that for a sentence?). I want the players to be able to post on the forums that are located on the site. So far so good.

The problem is that I cannot allow direct registration at the site, because people would be able to register under another players' name. In addition, I don't want to register every new player that comes manually, it's too much work, and there will be a big waiting time.

The solution I've found is that when the player logs to the game, he will type a command, and the command will create a new user in XOOPS database.

The problem is that I don't know how to add the user directly to the database. I will be able to handle MySql syntax, but I don't have a slightest idea what tables should be altered and in what way so that the user will be registered properly.

Could anyone help me? I need a detailed help, if possible.

Thank you very much.

How do I choose a specific page to be the first page that site visitors see, and not a module?

In other words, how do I set the default page?

Multimenu is not what I need, because of the following reasons:

1. It is not part of main menu.
2. It creates 4 different blocks with 4 different menus, and not one new block with expandable menu.
3. It is not nested menu.

To understand what I am talking about, goto http://www.modscentral.com/modules/news/, and look at their menu on the left. I believe it is done with Java, but I've seen similar things done with XOOPS too.

Well, I am still on the quest of finding a module that will allow me (without editing files) add expandable menus to the main menu and links to the content. (not an ugly hack, etc).

I've noticed that exoops has a lot of nice modules.

Is there any way of converting exoops modules to XOOPS ones?

I know nothing about writing modules for xoops, but isn't it a simple module to write, and a very useful one?

I wonder why there are no modules that do it.
