Stewdio:

Do you have more than this notice on his website in this matter?

I´m not asking that you tell us what happened. Even if you know - but instead a simple yes or no that due to any other sources you can just confirm this is for real?

.
This can´t be true. I refuse to believe it!

It would seem odd because considering his lastest work and initiative be a very rapid made decision. Maybe someone hacked his account and is playing a sick joke on us?

Can´t access your sitehttp://xsoft.tomsk.ru/ at all.
(if it is this one)

For the block:

Did you make sure in the preferences for Blocks that it is still visible? (did you try changing it to no and back to yes again?)

Make sure all groups that should see it have the permissions to do so.

for wf-section:

- which version of wf-section are you running?

What happened between when it stopped working for these two and before? Can you disable (not uninstall) modules you might have installed meanwhile, to see if there is a problem in combination with other modules you might have installed lately?

Well, you can use the one that comes with Xsas and modify it or you can create another one. There is no wizzard because you can just create a directory for every site you want to make under the 'www' directory.

However you can find a very good installation shortguide in this thread. See posting number 3 from JMorris in there.

On a second look in their forum ... they appear to be much dead in the water ...

Maybe you should look for some other product:

XSAS:http://xsas.sourceforge.net/

e-novative WAMP:http://docbook.e-novative.de/en/software/wamp.php

XAMP:http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

and there are many others out there. Free and still under development.

Until we have a final new news module or non-beta wf-section 2 you might have a look in this thread for a workaround.
(not the best one ... but it might do until the better solutions are ready for production sites)

.
Update your php version.

Quote:

Software Requirements

- A web (www) server (Apache, IIS, Roxen, etc)
- PHP 4.1.0 and higher (4.3.1 or higher for IIS)
- MySQL Database 3.23.XX or 4.X.XX

Note: one user has reported a problem with MySQL 3.23.49a-MAX. You will likely have difficulties with this version.

Note: if you have a large number of users (several hundred or more), people have reported problems with PHP 4.1.2 which go away when upgrading to a later version of PHP.

Note: not yet officially tested with PHP 5, but some users have already reported problems. More info when PHP5 is released.

Note: XOOPS works very well with PHP 4.3.4 and mySQL 4.0.15 Standard

Just had a look at the abria homepage. They really charge nearly 600$ for a package including such an old version. Far out ...

If you are talking about the main menu entries you could just edit the xoops_version.php in the news module folder and replace these lines:

// Menu
$modversion['hasMain'] = 1;
$modversion['sub'][1]['name'] = _MI_NEWS_SMNAME1;
$modversion['sub'][1]['url'] = "submit.php";
$modversion['sub'][2]['name'] = _MI_NEWS_SMNAME2;
$modversion['sub'][2]['url'] = "archive.php";

by something like

// Menu
$modversion['hasMain'] = 1;
[
b]//$modversion['sub'][1]['name']= _MI_NEWS_SMNAME1;
//$modversion['sub'][1]['url']= "submit.php";
$modversion['sub'][1]['name'] = _MI_NEWS_SMNAME2;
$modversion['sub'][1]['url'] = "archive.php";

But this would make it invisible to everyone so you would need to have some kind of custom menu like iMenu for example where you could setup a block or menu point which is only visible for your authorized group with a link to submit.php

This should do the trick. (Don´t forget to update the module)

Someone pointed me to this on the german forum some time ago ... think it was frankblack but i am not sure anymore and can´t find the original posting now.

Play around with wf-section and wf-download.

Both can be found around here.

Note that wf-section is beta at the moment but that should change not too far in the future.
