you can design your own or overwrite and upload to yoursite/modules/news/images. when you approve a submission you can select an image to display from the dropdown that will list all your gifs etc you have in the news/image directory. select and proceed. you may want to check the size of gif before you overwrite anything as the size will affect how your news items will appear.

ok gif works, but jpeg and png do not work

i think netpbm is ok because it works with xoopsgallery fine.

that did it. i still get messages above the db reply "your picture successfully added", not sure if that should be there, but it seems to be working. i will test it all out now.
update: ok that worked once, but now same message again "can't insert, can't resize thumbnail...

thanks for you reply Derya. i am presently using netpbm on my site with xoopsgallery (gallery v 1.3.3.2) its working fine. this is the message i get with xcGal when i try to upload a jpeg:
/netpbm/jpegtopnm 'albums/userpics/10001/1065324287.jpeg' | pnmscale -xsize=137 -ysize=160 | pnmtojpeg -quality=80 > 'albums/userpics/10001/thumb_1066300480.jpeg'
The picture 'albums/userpics/10001/1065324287.jpeg' can't be inserted in the album. Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.

yes same server. my server may have made changes since i used coppermine. thanks for the info on that. my host does remove directories for me, but maybe i should be looking for a new host.

i used coppermine as a stand alone gallery before and never had this issue. also i had to chmod albums and user pics to 777 before it would create sub directory "10001" for me.

i do not like losing ownership so i will not likely offer my users their own gallery.

i really like coppermine, and appreciate your efforts in creating the mod. i look forward to using it when netpbm issue is resolved.

funny you should say that, i started out with a graphic showing leonardo's man and a brain and so on. may consider it again, i make changes quite often, although yes the blue is calming and i will likely keep that.

can you explain, as i do not understand, why i lost ownership (in my root web) of the direcory created when i added an album under my user name:

drwxrwxrwx tjnemez 1 kb 09-Nov-2003 19:43 userpics [Delete] [Rename]

drwxr-xr-x www 1 kb 09-Nov-2003 20:22 10001

as you can see the sub dir "10001" is owned by "www" and i cannot delete or rename it.

hey thanks for reply, i see netpbm is experimental and thats what i am using.

any ideas on the permissions? is that because when configuring i left pics at 0644?
