ok Im not the most up to speed with the db's.
Other members of our team are however, so Im passing along the following.

article for HQHeadqaurters (doesnt make sense to me but I know someone will understand it :)
Troubleshooting the "Could not insert forum post" error in XOOPS

That sounds very similar to our problem. The insert statement matches..so goign to try that route. will let you know, as this is clearly a MySQL compatability issue.

it also appears to be that the value of Null is not allowed. And if not what do we change it too?

IF anyone else has any thoughts?
Thanks

well, we are in the midst of an upgrade moving up to MySQL 5 and php5! with xoop2.16

Everything is working like a charm.

Except a module or two doesnt work (no biggee and expected)

But our main concern is our forum.
All the data appears to be present and viewable.

However when trying to make a new post...
we get the dreaded -cannot insert forum post--

our fear is that we weill lose our forum
the error report..
realtes to.. post_edit...with an invalid value

So tried an uninstall of cbb (1.16)
and reinstall.
Smooth so far..

import old forum data (data only option) and it stops
executing when it says
sqlERROR: Column poster name cannot be : NULL

must be the problem. what would possibly be the solution?
any idea or thoughts on where to look? FIx this? FInd and replace even? LOL
thanks!

p.s old previos sql version was 3.23
but our data conversion appears to have worked for everything else

OK happy to announce update:

so suddenly our email wasnt working...
We werent able to send emails from eavennews
Registered users were not getting their confirmation emails

we were using phpmail

Any rate turns out our mail path settings were wrong in our php set up. Which is weird because we never changed them or were aware of them changing..But Apparently They changed (or needed to be updated)because of the way the servers smtp ids got switched, or added, around during this security resolution from our host.

(you should run a test.php and make sure paths and configurations are correct)Thats what we shoulda done first, but we never guessed that any settings may have changed or need to be changed.

-So the mailing and etc. are working.
Now to crack into the newsfeeds...

Sooooooo
This is how it is eh?

No one sees a relationship with the features not working and a common problem? There has to be one but cant figure it out.

No ones encountered such?

Please advise.

BTW: IF We could trace it to anything it would be that we use phpmail (have been for 3 years with no problem) not smtp or send mail..

Hello,
Recently we were notified by our host that a new spamguard firewall was place on their servers.

Unfortuantely I think this has affected our site but not sure.

Here is what does not work suddenly:
-Easy News-fails to send email
-Confimations emails for registered users -fail to send
-some rss feeds (maybe unrelated, dont work)
-Contact us link acts like its working but does not send.

-has anyone encountered such an issue. Not sure where to start as far as directives to our host. Thye are willing to work with us but not sure where to begin troubleshooting.

Note:We did run debug but found no errors.

TY in advance.

thanks mon!

YEah looking at the files...something musta been up with pical module cache...there were way too many of those files identified with that module in there. Must have been a setting problem. Or something strange.

I was worried about just dumping the files out so I logged in as admin and was on the preferences page (to create the dummy template as I did it. just in case)

It was frusterating because even in site preferences we were getting errors and had no way to update aspects of the site.

The folder took 20 minutes to clear out... musta been a problem with module wide cache settings which sometimes cause problems...

So as a result of the folder size I believe much of our resources were being used up resulting as well in some of our errors of late..So keep an eye out for your cache folder size out there peeps!

Howdy,

We are having problems with our cache folder.
We getting those random errors (such as "If this is your first time logging in to admin section..")

(the admin.php file is still there. )

Also, it appears our cache folder now has a size of 1 gig!!!!!

Can that be? Something tells me that something is definately wrong here.

Any advice, is as always greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

p.s. : been running XOOPS for several years. currently still using 2.13+
this has never happened before. Our server has also crashed 3 times in the past month apparently..So maybe on restart something happened?
