Quote:
In the past XOOPS has been suffered too much from its lack of communication and non-transparent management, just like the unknown "management structure" mentioned above.

It's time for us to move forward and to build XOOPS an open-source project upon open communication, open management and open development.

It's great that these issues have finally been recognised at the top, after *years* of frustration (really, its been *years*). I look forward to a new open approach of doing business!

Thank you.

* Protector V3.04 module documentation (PDF)
* Protector V3.04 module documentation (Open Office)
* Protector V3.04 module documentation (Word)

You might also find the draft Guide to Essential XOOPS Modules useful. Gives you a summary of what they do and links to download them.

All of the modules in this guide are reliable, safe choices.

What we really need is some terms of reference that define what the Project Council is, does, and how it relates to the Foundation, Community and teams.

We need these things so that everyone can see and understand how the place works. We are going to *keep having threads like this one* until we have some rules in place that provide for transparency, accountability and community participation.

XOOPS has never been a democracy (neither has it been a meritocracy, spare me the lecture!). But for the first time we have signs that someone wants to open the place up and turn it into a proper community driven project. It's going to take a while.

James

Thanks for the clarification, that helped a lot. Got to do some thinking and digesting now :) Might be good to write it up and pin it somewhere?

Yes he left. I think he basically 'handed over' responsibility to jmorris so that the XOOPS project could continue, that's all.

XOOPS has always generated a lot of notices in debug mode. These are not actually errors (although I presume they are things that could have been done 'better'?).

Before anyone jumps in, just a reminder: Let's keep the discussion flames free!

Thanks.
