are these not copying across because of permissions?

if I change all of the permissions will it work or are permissions so granular that I would never eb able to change them back properly?

of so I found the /var/lib/mysql file

is there anythign else I should be copying across apart from that?

if I copy the MySQL file, and /apache/(all of the XOOPS files)across is this it? I will have my original site or is there more to it?

also when I copy across the XOOPS files does this mean all the permissions etxc will come across as well?

If anyone wants to help on the bigger problem you are welcome to. Heres the story of my day.

I woke up this morning and found my webserver non resposive upon rebooting I was told grub had error 25 (disk problem)

I have installed debian, apache and MySQL on a second hard drive in the same machine (it was a physical identical with nothing on it)

I have mounted the orignal (faulty supposedly) drive as /mnt/copyall folder on the second drive.

The original master files are still there.

What is the best way for me to solve my problem? How do i get up and running?


Do I

Is it copy over MySQL apache etc and other files I need and copy these to the secondary drive?

Is it repair the original drive? (still dont know what in grub was causing this)

Crash everything and start again?

I currently am copying off the original files to another machine via winscp and hopefully some people here will be able to advise me of best course to take.

mysql

where in the debian hard drive folders is the MySQL database saved?

I've had a problem with one of my ahrd drives this morning and although I can access the original hard drive files I need to know where/what to copy across to the new hard drive?

lol, yes I could make a mistake like that but no not in this case.

I think it's something that happened when I installed xhld.

any thoughts on what to do?

I have a complete copy of the apache2 and phpmyadmin but i'm not sure how/what to copy back.

modules not appearing in preferences tab

I have had a problem today with newly installed modules not appearing in the administration/preferences tab

Basically the modules appear in the 'Modules' section but not the preferences section.

this may also be tied to a really weird problem I'm having in that MS-weather (which is missing from preferences but is listed in modules) appears in the Site Menu and I can click on it their to bring up the page however If I try to add it to a center or right block to have it displayed permanently it doesn't display at all.

I think this may be related to trying out a whole heap of unspecifiec modules this morning including xhdl2.9 which said upon install eror with database and wince this time I think the new modules didn't install.

is there a way to 'auto fix' database problems.

or for XOOPS to reinstall it's own database?

Shoutbox 3.1 doesn't work for 2.2.3

not sure if there is another section of the forum that I'm supposed to post this but Shoubox 3.1 isn't working in my installation of 2.2.3

it's a rather curious fault, basically as a webmaster it looks fine for me, but when I log in from another pc as a registered user in the grey text area is the banner from the top of my website and although I can post as a user I cant see the text (webmaster see's it fine)

Should be an easy fix but just thought I'd give a heads up in case people were tempted to try it with 2.2.3

WF Quotes doesn't work for 2.2.3

not sure if there is another section of the forum that I'm supposed to post this but WF Quotes isn't working in my installation of 2.2.3

everytime I keep trying to add a quote it says must add a category first.

Just thoguht I'd heads up in case people were tempted to try it with 2.2.3
